Big East 2025 Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champions - St. John's Red Storm

St. John’s has won the Big East Tournament. Three games in three days, won by an average of 17 points each, it was a statement made to the country. So many of us have been through so much heartbreak that the coronation that took place was not just for St. John’s but for the fans as well.

In my own words, from the heart, what it means.

Thank you

Vince made Kalkbrenner hesitant offensively.
Vince played the best overall game he's had in a StJ uniform. Not only the turning-point hook over Kalk, but he stopped Kalk defensively, set a nice screen for another layup, got out on Ashworth on the switch, looked like what you would hope for from an athletic 7 footer.

The key to him IMO is reaction time. On the hook shot he did not do what he usually does and hold the ball, he got it, made his move, and that was that. Similarly on defense he was more in tune with the flow of the game.

It's possible that he just doesn't process quickly, but I feel as though lack of PT has impacted him - it's just hard to play at game speed and understand the flow of the guys you're playing with if you don't actually get to play.

He hasn’t been a problem on offense all year. That hook shot means nothing. He’s been making those shots all year, but he’s awful on defense and the glass.

The ONE thing he does on defense that could help against a 7 footer is that he doesn’t get backed down. He’s too big. If he does that in the second round then he was worth it. He was literally brought here for Kalk and Dickinson. Zuby is on roller skates against those guys in the paint.

I had 2 people comment on my st johns shirt at church today. Ive been in delray beach for 25 years and no one has ever done that.

Just unreal!!!!
I went to church and my closest friends there were shocked I even made it (I was dragging). A lot of talk about the Johnnies during Coffee Hour afterwards.

Vince is athletic enough but , has very weak hands . And , our guys have to understand that and can’t throw him anything but , fluff passes . None below his knees either .

He gets knocked on his A -ss a lot for a guy his size but , him giving 5 minutes of contribution goes a long way .

If we play Kansas , get him in there against Dickenson for a few minutes and harass him .

There is no doubt in my mind that if we play the Jay Hawks they will get benefit on close calls .
Also , likely they will get 1 of our key players in foul trouble early .
It’s all been scripted . Just as getting all those SEC Teams and NC into the tourney was scripted .

The NCAA is one of the most corrupt organization that mankind has created .

They are becoming more and more blatant in their corruption every year .

BE and ACC need to look at possible merger or , some consolidation .

He doesn't get knocked down...he falls down. He's actually a strong kid. We have to figure out how to keep him in the lane. I'd jump Kansas with a true 2-3 zone when he comes in. They will not be expecting that and it will keep Vince from charging out to the perimeter any opportunity he gets. Keep him on the blocks with his hands up and maybe we can keep him in from the under 12 to the under 8 in the first half.

The extra timeouts in the tournament will be huge for us. Zuby will be fresher than ever...he just has to stay out of foul trouble.

What do you mean about extra timeouts?

I thought knocked down was a kinder comment than falling down .

Extra time in the timeouts, sorry. The media timeouts are extended an extra 15 to 45 seconds.

It doesn't seem like much, but it makes a huge difference cumulatively since there are 8 media timeouts in a game. It's a very meaningful difference for teams like us that aren't very deep. We can stack a full timeout near a 2 1/2 to 3 minute media timeout to get Zuby and Kadary over 5 minutes of rest with only missing a few possessions.

I hope they don't jump to some irrelevant game when we are in a commercial. When they do they always come back after action has restarted.

He has hands that might be worse than Jeff Allen's.

Hey , I go beck that far and more . I had forgotten about “ Hands Allen , “

Wennington had to split time with Jeff ,when Bill was a freshman . I thought Wennington could have played more but , Louie was loyal to Jeff .

Apparently wining first outright BE regular season championship in 40 years and first BE conference tournament in 25 isn’t enough to clinch this season not being considered a failure by St.John’s fans. WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and company said if we don’t make it to at least the Sweet Sixteen that St. John’s fans would consider this season a failure. Are they nuts? Disappointed in losing early in the tournament sure but the season a failure? Hell no it’s been a resounding success. 30-4 BE regular and conference tournament champs best season in 40 years. Those guys are crazy.

Even (not happening) a loss tonight... this season is the furthest thing from a "failure".... a 30 win season does not happen often in college bball... if ever here...

Somewhere in the archives of this board are comments I made in past years that I would take a BE tournament championship and no round of sixteen over a bubble team who wins two tournament games. Having experienced last weekend I will stand by that statement while hoping by Saturday night I haven’t tested out the full hypothesis.

F them. When was the last time either one of them had their favorite team never lose a home game in a season

Senseless crap, Dance is all about the draws and we gave a tough one after Omaha. Neither Ark. or KU is a gimme. I would be disappointed if we lose to either, but a “failure”, no way. This has been a sensational season winning both BE T & regular season.
