Best/Worst leaper in St. John’s history?

Agreed. Rowan Barrett had tremendous hops as well. Of course those guys are weighed down by the poor overall performances during their era.
Including a good number poor overall performances by the two of them.

I originally said Willie Glass, but remembering better now I change my vote to Michael Porter, tremendous leaper that guy could sky.

Ed Searcy was a terrific down low player for us, loved his Power team with Elmore, and Jap Trimble (no relation to any of these other Trimbles?)

For sure.

You have to go back a ways but a good example of the best and worst playing along side one another was in the 58-59 season with Tony Jackson a 6ft 4in forward who could get his elbow on the rim playing along side Lou Roethel a 6ft 6in center who couldn't get off the ground.
Lapchick had Roethel who was a wide body block out as many opponents as he could and let Jackson jump for the rebound. This strategy resulted in Jackson averaging sixteen rebounds a game in his first varsity season.

Family friend sat on end of bench on those teams. When I was a kid Beaver used to come to Staten Island in the summer to visit my dad's friend and saw him play in some pickup games. I was really little but at the time thought he was like a super hero. Memories get hazy when you are young but I used to use him as measuring stick for guys who could jump.
Porter literally seemed to have springs in his legs. It was like something you'd see in a Michael J. Fox movie... CUJO was definitely the most limited but Billy Singleton was pretty limited too with two bad knees.
Ironically Billy prior to the injuries was an awesome leaper at Adlai Stevenson HS. Adapted his game so well via savvy, ball fakes & positioning

My freshman year (I was on JV) they beat my HS in the Semi finals or maybe game to get into semi's of the PSAL playoffs. Singleton came out of nowhere to block tying three point attempt. Guy who showed up at ST john's did not resemble that guy at all. Thought was a different guy. Agree very smart player and made most out of ability he was left with. I do remember one game Mutombo and Mourning blocked about 10 of his shots. Despite the fakes I do think if they kept the stat he would be the all time leader for ST John's in having their shot blocked. Became a good player but would have been nice to have had HS Billy Singleton.
