Hey, it is never a bad time to talk pizza, just because pizza is well pizza.
By the way, the author lists a couple of places in Jersey City, which is odd because this is about NYC.

Totonno's in Coney Island is my all time favorite...old school, coal fired and "Cookie", the curmudgeon grand daughter is a treat.

I did go to Paulie Gee's Slice Shop in Greenpoint and they do a real good hipster version of a 1970's/80's nyc slice shop.

DiFara's was an experience with him hanging pies out of oven by hand and clipped basil. But the place was filthy and he just passed away. Dont think the kids can carry the aura Dom brought.

Spumoni Gardens has always been overrated for me. Liked the spumoni but pizza was a big block of dough.

The perfect topic for Brooklyn Red. By far and away, my favorite is F&F on Court Street. I was there on opening day as I am a big fan of Frankies Spuntino 457 which was the 2 Franks original joint (and a great place to eat with an outdoor garden in the back). The Franks wanted to have a slice joint and that is what this is. (You can get a whole pie if you want.) F&F is open until the 3 days aged dough for the day is finished. DiFara maybe finished as Dom just pasted and he was so particular, I don't know who will take over. Spumoni Gardens is a hoot--sit at the outdoor picnic tables and eat a "square" and end with a "spumoni" Italian ice.

New Park Pizza on Cross Bay in Howard Beach deserves to be among the top on any NYC list.

But most people don't get out there, especially Brooklyn-centric list writers.

Not nyc. But best pizza for me is ancona in valley stream. Regular slice is amazing.
Its been years since i was there,, but I'd agree they have a very good slice...in mid-90's I used to drive down Rockaway Ave. a lot on way to a part time job in Five Towns area and stopped for pizza there many times.

Wow, not one mention of L&B Spumoni Gardens yet?

Lotta people been talking about Mike’s Underground in Suffolk but all I’ve seen are the IG pics.

I mentioned Spumoni Gardens earlier--not necessarily the best but a good choice eating outdoors at the picnic tables. Definitely worth the trip (close to Coney Island). Have a "square"; they make it differently by putting the cheese on first and then topping with the tomato sauce. End with one of their Spumoni Italian Ices. Rumor has it that a mob war nearly broke out after an L&B employee stole the secret recipe for the "gravy"

I don’t know how I missed that post. Whenever I’m/we’re in the neighborhood, picking up a square pie is a must. The Spumoni is amazing too.

When I used to take trips to pick up cans from Other Half, I used to justify the ride by telling the wife I’d pick up a pie from L&B.

If you come back to Other Half, you can go to Frankies Pizza on Court Street about 6/7 blocks away on Court St. Very worth the stop.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve gotten pretty spoiled, a lot of the stores around me carry OH now so no need to make that god forsaken ride on the Belt anymore.

Yeah, but that taproom on Centre Street in allegedly "Carroll Gardens" OH's OG spot is really in Red Hook, right.

Frankies on Court Street very good.

Brooklyn Red.Guinness77, did you guys ever wait on the lines at OH when they used to have their special brewery only releases and collab releases? I did, crazy, back then it was not available locally, like it is now.
