Need some ideas for some movies to watch. Saw Star Wars this morning and liked it a lot. I'll give that a 7.5

Saw Bridge of Spies and Black Mass the other day. Thought both were real good. Give Spies about an 8.5 and Black Mass about an 8. Getting a bunch in the mail and via streaming in the next 2 weeks before Nat has to vote but we really haven't seen any movies this year so any recommendations from people would be great. Btw documentaries good also so if anyone saw any good ones let me know what's out there

Going to watch Revenant tonight. That one looks pretty crazy

I don't see movies until the screeners come out then I hit up my friend so we've been busy the past few weeks. I really liked Big Short. I also liked Anomolisa, but I'm a sucker for Charlie Kaufman. Hateful 8 was good but not up to the usual Tarantino standards. That still means its better than most.

I don't watch "history" movies so the other two you mentioned would be out. Once I watch Room, which I have waiting on the coffee table, I'm going to my friends to trade in these screeners for a few others so I'm also interested in recommendations. I'm thinking Revenant and Carol. I'd also like to the the Martian.

I also saw Star Wars and it was entertaining but it was no Mad Max Fury Road.

LJSA said the big short was great too. I'm getting the screener for that next week I think

Spotlight and Room I can watch via streaming this week so I'll check those out too

Actually since it's early will watch spotlight now. Then the Leo movie later.

Spotlight rating in 2 hours :)

Watched Brooklyn today. Excellent, especially if you're of Irish decent. May watch Spotlight tonight.

Spotlight is terribly moving.
Nobody in the theater moved for 10 minutes.

I agree spotlight was a good film. Also loved Mad Max. Big short was OK. Sicario and Jurassic World great as well!

45 minutes in and I had to take break. Oh man this one is crazy. The cast is fantastic

My fiancee gets a code to watch certain ones and she gets screeners for the others because she has to vote for the screen actors guild awards so pretty much most of what or who is nominated we will get. A couple others she might go to private screenings but those I can't go to usually

Just finished it. Honestly I don't even know what to say. I don't want to say a movie like this is great because the content of what it's about is so f'ed up. Not sure if I should be sad or angry. I don't really remember the story back then but I'm definitely going to try and make sure Nathalie doesn't watch this because of that whole 9/11 part showing the WTC getting hit since she was supposed to work there that night.

I don't know if anyone picked up on it but that scene with Ruffalo cooking in the kitchen and cooking hot dogs had to have been a subliminal dark joke.

Brilliant cast. I'll say that. I don't even want to rate this one On to revenant a little later

I just looked at the list that we can watch via streaming and Brooklyn and Trumbo are on it too.

I'll watch Brooklyn next week for sure

Found Jurassic World disappointing.
I'm not a big sequel guy, though.

It's not for everyone, just the most horrid crime in the world.
Interesting theatre makeup when we went.
Mostly baby boomers and living up here, I suspect very much Catholic/ex Catholic.
Suspect our generation could most easily relate to the time.
We have 2 family members that were victims.
We come from HUGE Irish Catholic families, so I think the movie had a special morbid effect on us.

I'm a 66 year old BIC (Bronx Irish Catholic).
We all know/knew victims, whether were aware or not is another question.
But we've met them.
When Ruffalo is told that the % of pedophile priests is 6%, you could hear the entire theatre gasp.
That's a staggering number.

Watched Brooklyn today. Excellent, especially if you're of Irish decent.

Had dinner with an Irish aunt the other day, and she said it was her story. So it's definitely accurate. I haven't seen it yet since it's not playing near my mom's house, but when i get back to the Bay Area I'm going to check it out.

I really enjoyed Bridge of Spies, and Sicario was intense. Like mjmaher mentioned, I loved the Big Short. I thought it was hilarious, and all the performances were great.

My intention was to see a whole bunch of movies over the holidays, but unfortunately haven't seen anything in the past couple weeks.

As for blockbusters, I didn't think much of Mad Max. But still better than the original ones, which are overrated pieces of shit. I liked Jurassic World. Also, I would like to defend the latest Terminator movie in case you guys skipped it during the summer when it came out. My nephew and I decided to ignore the harsh reviews, and I was glad we did. I found it very entertaining.

As far as mindless entertainment goes, I thought The Night Before was really fun.

The Room is playing in Sag Harbor, so may try to squeeze that in before heading home.
