Best Beer

Lagunitas Dark Swan

Tried this one out. To me it tasted like a bubbly very dry, red wine. It did have a head though unlike a wine. Wasn't bad but I was expecting something more like Aunt Sally. When you pour this it is a really dark red/purple. Tried it once. Won't buy it again but not because it was so bad. Just not very interesting to me. Wasn't a "sour" in my book. Probably should call it a Weer or Bine...
Paul, it sounds almost like a true English Porter, which I have tried only on a London pub crawl.

had southern tier IPA last night at a concert. Pretty good beer.

Forget southern tier. New can releases at Sand City today. Fantastic beers.

Sand City,Interboro and Montauk are my favorite local beers at the restaurants around here

But back on topic, I have friends that swear by 21st Amendment.

El Sully was really weak. They call it a "Mexican style lager" but no excuse. I like lighter, crisp beers but this was very disappointing. I'd prefer a Corona to this...

Maybe my friends are already shitfaced when they are swearing by it.

Sand city blows other two away. Go to Brewery and hit the taps and buy some cans. You're like 5 minutes away!

I'm hoping these two make it through the night. If they do I'll be there at 11:59 tomorrow. Even Mo and Burning Down the House are 2 of my SC favorites.

Going to Hershey on Sunday...looking to hit Pizza Port while I'm there.

That was just one. Not saying they are all bad but El Sully, my first thought was piss water. So maybe for volume drinking it has its merits. I'm too old for that so I like to take my time and enjoy one.

Tonight was "Down to Earth" Session IPA. Definitely better than the El Sully. Not great but decent.

I think I'm the only beer snob who doesn't like hops.

That's an oxymoron. Hops are the backbone of ALL beers. It's like saying I think I'm the only steak lover who doesn't like beef!

I think what MM meant to say was lots of hops. I have a digestive problem with high IBU beers so I like to taste them but can't drink much of them. This has led me to prefer low IBU but still full flavored and diverse beers. I relate that IBU rating to hops as well. Is that incorrect?

my personal preference steers away from the really hoppy beers. Occasionally I like an over the top hoppy IPA but all hops all the time as is trendy these days is not for me either. I guess if I were to make a basketball analogy it would be like a team that hits 3s but doesn't play defense...

Yeah, I was just messing with him, I figured out what he was saying. IPAs are a big rage, but too many also give me reflux. I do enjoy them though. Also partial to barrel aged stouts and barleywines once fall kicks in, especially.

Brilliant way to tie in beer to SJU Hoops. Bloody Brilliant :)

So...ended up with 2 4-packs of Burning Down the House and a 32oz growler of Even Mo Mofo. Finally bought a shirt with the money I "saved" by them being out of Mo cans. Not too bad.

Drinking a Grimm DDH Forcefield right now. An interesting IPA to say the least. Cheers all.

I haven't tried the forcefield. I have a couple fours each of DDH A street, Dialed in with Sauvignon blanc variant(great beer), a new Fort Point and PM Dawn. All excellent stuff. I don't think I've gotten a less than excellent beer from Trillium.

Even mo fo very good btw.

Just had a Radiant Pig Gangster Duck Red while waiting for my dinner. Excellent beer

"tried" to go to a triple can release this past Saturday morning at Other Half Brewery in Bklyn. I say "tried" because I got up at 4:00 AM, got in there by 5AM and there already was a line that ran from the front door, down Cenre St., around Smith St., down Garnet St, around Court Street and then circled back passed the front door, and wound down Center St. again, then across the street out onto Hamilton Ave., under the BQE.

For a 10AM opening the line, I understand, started forming at 11 PM, by midnight 50 people on line, including one dude Dan from Riverhead who comes to all of their releases, he was number 4 in line. The people who were around 100 in line, told us they got there at 3AM. They hand out bracelets to deter line jumpers.

Since they had low limits to begin with, we figured the wait in line would be 6 hours +/-, and at best we'd maybe get two 4 paks (16 oz big boys). We went home very disappointed.

Three double dry hopped IPAs one collab with Trilium, one collab with Monkish (CA), and one with OH/Trillium and Monkish. All three world class breweries especially in the IPA category.

Alas, I get little sleep and no beer. The beer geeks were out in force. Hoarders, traders, re-sellers, line-waiters, etc.

The beer is great but in the end it's just beer.

I'll wait until Other Half releases their won DDH All Citra Everything, that is as good as these other collabs and the line is a lot shorter.

I really like Long Island's Barrier.

other half did some collaboration at some place called the long island city beer project this weekend. A friend of mine went and brought back a growler of one of their beers ( double ipa ) and he had some other stuff. We drank it yesterday afternoon and it was real good. Good thing he only lives 5 houses away because I got pretty buzzed by 4pm. I almost had to have his wife drive me up the block because I was so tired from the beer and heat I didnt feel like going up my hill. And then he gave me some sand city cans to go. It was a very productive sunday on the Maher block
