Bernardi to SMU

Blaise sounds like a good fit, but I have never seen him play-is he athletic, does he have good hands? A good rebounder? Anyone out there know?

Judge fer yerself cowpoke...

When is SMU coming to the BE? If it is more than a yr away I dont think the 2 yr rule applies

There is no 2 year rule. Intra-conference transferring in the Big East is simply PROHIBITED. Period. Not allowed. And that not only includes players already enrolled and playing but also players who have signed a valid NLI with one school and then perhaps seeks a release. That is also part of the intra-conference transfer rule.

It would be interesting to see how the Big East interprets the rule with regards to SMU and even if they allowed it SMU may simply say, "NO." They don't have to grant any release or they can simply grant a conditional release and make it clear that Big East schools are off limits because they are future opponents.

I disagree Fordham. The right thing to do would be for SMU to let these kids go unconditionally. Neither is irreplaceable. They committed to a different coach and conference. Why should these kids be limited in their choices considering the circumstances? Regardless of rules, the right thing to do would be to let this small group of athletes re-assess their bball and academic careers and choose to go on their own way wherever that might be.

You are giving your opinion which is fine, I was not giving an opinion. I was stating facts. If the BE chose to not allow this under their intra-conference transfer rules or if SMU refused to let them out of their NLI then they would be under their rights to do so. It being fair or unfair is an entirely different argument that I was not commenting on.

He looks like the "surprise shooter", :)
Now, he looks long and tall. I'll take him-the coaches here could maximize his potential, IMHO.

Why should these kids be limited in their choices considering the circumstances?

Because they were dumb enough to commit to Doherty in the first place. That in and of itself is should be a crime.

You may have a point.
