SI had him listed as among the most overrated College Coaches last year, by his peers. He is still a Media Darling because they regard him as one of their own and his charismatic persona. He is very likeable without question.

I'm sure your right about his good citizenship and I hope he becomes a Major League Pitcher soon.

But, on the Court in this League, he gets too many minutes for us.And, you have to admit his play was, at best, mediocre this season..

He's also turnover prone with errant passes.

Of course, I think he's a great kid but, we're talking basketball performance in a tough league.

Agreed. It's all a matter of perspective. If you're looking for Garrett to be the best player on the team with no shortcomings, you're going to be dissapointed. What Garrett brings is a skillset that can be used effectively in a particular role. He's one of the better rebounders on the team (especially on the offensive end), has the proverbial "nose for the ball", is probably our toughest/most tenacious player, and may have lead the team in garbage baskets this season which were born out of nothing more than just outworking everybody else.

Is this type of player your #1? Of course not. But not only can you win with guys like this - you need guys like this. 20 minutes a night of maximum energy, intangibles, and an indisputably team-first attitude. Like the rest of our team, as the season progressed Amir start relying more and more on jumpshooting. The reasoning behind this team-wide epidemic for a team with very few players capable of making jumpshots is beyond my comprehension, and the blame for it falls with the coaches. If Amir is used in the proper role and has his talents channeled to maximize his efficiency he can be a bigtime contributor for us. And, my guess is that if he was used in this role consistently (the staff seemed to kind of lose him in the rotation in the middle of the season), and got comfortable with his shot selection and the flow of the game you'd see him knocking down 15 footers with more regularity.

Amir is the least of our player problems. We do not even have to pay his R&B.
The conundrum is Greene, Harrison, Branch, Bourgault, Balamou and Hooper.
Half the team's scholarships are held by offensive question marks for next year.
If Harrison is not welcomed back and Branch can't lock up the PG position, we may be in for another challenging year.
The backcourt needs to be resolved sooner rather than later. John Severe was just named Mr. Basketball in NYS.
We were soft in his recruitment but Lavin needs to open up a position for a guard.
