Winged Foot is a renowned golf club reasonably close to Iona. It has absolutely no bearing on his decision on where RP is going to coach.

I mean it’s not like the Gtown board is like ‘we’re only 15 minutes from Congressional Golf Club we’re a lock for Slick Rick’

The decision is going to be 100% based on money. In particular how much of it schools are willing to guarantee him.
I agree it’s more than just Winged Foot as a Golf Course. Although it is more than a little bit better than Congressional . I was more highlighting the fact that Pitino passed muster by the Winged Foot Membership Committee . Which is not a walk in the park . I don’t recall a lot of Press being written that how awful Winged Foot was for admitting him . It would be the same at St John ‘s , in my opinion . Many in the press and media are advocating for St John’s to hire him . Why ? Because he is one of very few BB Coaches who could right this abysmal program of 2 Decades of pretty much awful BB ! Pitino is a BB Coach , not a Eucharistic Minister . Lastly , at age 70 and being a multi millionaire , does it really matter to Rick whether he makes $2.5 Million or $ 5 million ? He’s on record that the chance to build a National Champion contender is his goal at this point in his life .

I have my reservations about Pitino but it has more to do with me being an ageist than anything.

He's the best choice by far but being 70+ is not something to dismiss.

Granted, I'm still in my 40s and would love nothing more than to retire tomorrow and sleep in all day.

Is that what you think us 70 plus year olds do ? I’m so busy daily that I ask myself , when did I ever find time enough to go to work ?

My pops works for a 95 year old billionaire who works 60 hour weeks and is as sharp as they come. My pops is in his mid 70s and when they argue the 95 year old tells him that he is still young and has lots to learn. Anyway the point is it's all relative but 70 is not old for one to continue to work hard.

Here! Here! 👍 👍

I think Pitino takes the first Power 6 job that is offered him. Don’t think ND will be looking his way though.

ND won’t be embarrassed or fooled again like they were with Matt Doherty. They will hire a coach where Notre Dame is the destination.

I think they call on a familiar face (to us) in Greg McDermott who politely declined because ND doesn’t pay more than Creighton. They take a look at NBA guys with ND ties before finally settling on… Martin Ingelsby.

Agreed brother I don't think he will be an easy get now that he's in play or so it seems for a comeback to Power 6 teams... again day late and dollar short! The SJU way....
