Attendance Moving Forward

This is the crowd at the UCLA / San Diego game

UCLA vs. San Diego. The band's all here! But they could use some company

UCLA ------ THE GREATEST Basketball program ever. Still waiting for Austour's views on the UCLA attendance dilemma. ;)

Sorry, didn't know you were waiting for me. UCLA suffers from being in Los Angeles. You can almost always get tickets to Pauley no matter how good the team is because 99.9% of Angelenos don't care about any sports. Pauley's not a place to be seen ergo not many casual fans there. The new NFL team will likely work as well as the Rams and Raiders as well.

Exactly! Just as St. John's suffers from being in NYC. USC basketball attendance is even more pathetic. That was my point about playing in large metropolises. You better be good and ranked to draw the casual fans, especially since ticket prices have become obscene given the level of competition for many games. The St. John's games at Carnesecca would be sold out with proper promotion for students. Marketing is on the level of our compliance efforts at SJ......lazy and amateurish.

The islanders are he classic proof that if you win they will come. If we get ranked the casual fans will show.

As an Islander fan, I used them in an earlier post as an example for SJU's attendance. They have five sellouts already. People will come. Just win.

The attendance always frustrates me. The Knicks are a joke, and this particular season so are the Jets and Giants so why not come out to a St Johns game? Even when they are not playing a big time opponent, you can still grab very affordable seats and come watch a D1 basketball game. Parking is free, the commute is simple from many locations (not all) ...its a no hassle night of sports. I still think it hurts recruiting too, when potential recruits watch our games and the stands are half empty.

Syracuse had a "disappointing" crowd of a shade under 25,000 for our game. Their big games usually draw 32-33,000. Would love to see Carnesecca at or near capacity and the garden draw at least 10,000 per for rest of season but it might take a little more winning for that. We could be ranked but still think Tulane at Barclays would only draw the usual 1,000 die-hard Johnnie fans.

"Dis appointing crowd" of 25,000? LMAO! This Syracuse team will draw close to 30,000 only for Duke and Louisville. Expect 25000 to be the norm in the ACC. They will make TV money but have lost their soul. All for the sake of their shitty football team.

BTW, this was the largest attendance for a Syracuse game this year thus far.

It's actually the largest crowd for any college basketball game so far this year.

I have been away from the board for awhile.. .work, family etc. But still a season ticket holder and will be there for FDU. Hopefully the base wll start to rally. I see a lot of action on Twitter so people are taking notice. Especially with the pro ball situation in the city. Hopefully it shows in the attendance on Wed and Sun.
