Athletic Director Search

It's amazing how difficult a task it seems for SJU to find the right basketball coach, athletic director or school president.

Well that's a start. Only months on months late. Not really sure about the qualifications of the committee, however, I trust and respect Dean Simons, so I'm glad it is being led by someone with a solid head on his shoulders.

Anyone else want to voice a vote of confidence for this committee?

FWIW, has Bobby G. released his strategic plan for the university for the next 3 years, or writing one for the prior 3 years? Considering how we always are moving backwards, maybe the latter makes sense.

On the plus side, Oliva probably learned from Redmen.com that he is not qualified to be AD.

Please do not take my post as a vote of confidence. Simons leading it is my only saving grace of hope, that's what I meant.

Can't wait for someone to get the internal promotion, and them not look outside. Wouldn't put it past the school to do so.

Don't think that possibly owning Slice about $1.6 million for the remaining four years of his five-year contract helps the situation.

The university is an expert in debt. Just pile it on baby.

Who said the amount was $1.6. I believe the amount is considerably higher.

I think that's just his purported salary of $400K per for the presumed 4 years left on his contract. You're usually pretty informed. What did you hear?

A 6 year guaranteed contract at a higher figure.
We currently owe in excess of $2 million.

Wow! I thought it might be more than $1.6 million ($400K @ 4 years), which is why I specified "about." But this far exceeds what I imagined. Guess this makes him SJU's version of Bobby Bonilla.

I don't know why StJohn's should owe Mr. Rohrssen a nickel. If Mr. Slice was unhappy with his position at StJohn's as speculated, then St.John's should release him from his contractual obligations. I doubt that StJohn's contract guaranteed that Rohrssen would be happy at St.John's and obligated it to pay him if he was not happy and wanted to leave.

With overall comp I think it's even closer to 3 million

Head Coach also doesn't want to retain him so under these circumstances you come to an arrangement.

Precisely.

85.... the pay out may becomes the subject of negotiations only if both parties want the contract terminated but if you read the thread you will see that one or more of the posters stated or implied is that our beloved StJohn's unconditionally owes Mr. Slice $2M or $3M.

If Mr. Slice flat wants out of St. John's and Mullin would welcome him back this coming season then there is no way that St.John's should pay him a nickel.

If Mr. Slice's departure is mutual then that becomes a basis for negotiations/ discounting with conditions but not at the $2M- $3M suggested.

Whatever the reasons, Mullin did not want him back. Fact.

Correct ... which why things got so ugly.
