Around the Big East

Rutgers lost at Miami and 'Nova escaped at home against cross town rival LaSalle. They trailed by 5 late, rallied and won in OT.

A good game going on in Maui between Kansas and G'town. It's at the half and KU is up by 2 (37-35). The 3-ball is really keeping G'town in it at the moment, as they've hit their last 4 shots behind the arc. G'town also seems to have a long group, this season, with their newcomers. Kansas is running a clinic on G'town's 2-3 zone, though.

I was gonna head to bed, but I guess I'll watch the reminder of this one.

I didnt see a dribble, but I thought Gtown was suppose to be down this season. They have some shooters I guess?

It's still early in the season, so you really do not know who's down or up. Kansas has a couple of good players in Thomas Robinson (Robinson is a "man" and an NBA-first rounder) and Tyshawn Taylor. The other guys seem steady, but they lack depth. They are well-coached (as, usual), as they carved up G'town's 2-3 zone. Our coaches should thoroughly watch the tape of that game prior to playing G'town. Kansas occasionally broke down on defense, but overall they defended any backdoor attempts very well.

G'town has experienced guys in Clark, Thompson, Sims, Lubick and Starks. Otto Porter (G'town's highest-rated frosh) seems like he's gonna be a pretty good player. Several of their players are a threat from deep, but you have to take 'em off their spot. Get those guys moving and putting it on the floor then you've certainly done your job.

They play Chaminade later today (who was spanked in the 2nd half by UCLA). So, I see 'em picking up a win this afternoon.

I saw that score, Ucla finally got their 1st win of the season.

I don't think Chaminade is D1 so it doesn't count towards their RPI though. ; )

A pretty, good game between G'town and Memphis just ended. G'town won in OT (91-88). Josh Pastner would get fired, if he played in a good conference. He's not a good coach, and he can thank his lucky stars he has some talent and plays in a VERY, mediocre conference.

Rutgers just lost another to Richmond. I heard they really aren't looking good.

The kid Waiters on Cuse is putting on a show in the 2nd half at MSG.

He basically catapulted the 'Cuse to a double-digit lead.

There he goes again, a nice pass for a lay up-- then a steal and a dunk. The scary part is he comes off the bench for them.

Waiters might come off the bench for Cuse, but he is their best player. I went to every Cuse game/watched every game last year, and he is by far the best basketball player/athlete on that team. I think Triche is a nice player, and Joseph can be very good at times. Melo is still goofy but effective bc of his size. I am not a Scoop Jardine fan at all. I think his decision making for a 5th year senior is terrible. The reason Waiters doesn't start is he is more of 2/3 and they are not going to not start Jardine or Joseph.
