Around the Big East 25-26

While some worry about who will be primary, experienced SJU ball handler, remember UConn’s Demary is NOT a natural PG nor is Ball. We, however, have a natural set up guy in Darling, though not with BE level experience admittedly. I am confident he will orchestrate quite capably here however, but we’ll see.

My contributions as a player were more valuable when I was 4th or 5th on the floor. Better players made me more effective

Same. When you're a role player and you're asked to do too much the limitations show up. But when you get to just play within yourself and feed the big dogs, you look better and the team is better because you aren't taking shots that someone else should be taking. Cough cough Jenkins cough cough

It is ingrained in our fandom to immolate an entire season before practices have officially begun based on an imperfection that folks are zeroing in on, instead of looking at the whole picture.

Sure some other teams may have more of a traditional PG that can cause this team problems.

But conversely, this team is deep and will get after it on the boards. The depth is its greatest attribute, and will wear down opponents.

This goes even for the PG who was a pest for the first 30 minutes, will be less apt to drive and more inclined to be short on his shots late because of fatigue. And the team’s fresh legs will help in the rebounding department as well.

It will be very hard to find another roster that is compromised of essentially two teams. Let other teams worry about exhaustion and surviving the last 5 minutes against a fresh SJU.

While Demary and Ball are not natural point guards, Malachi Smith is.

Malachi Smith is, though, and he is wildly underrated on here. Uconn is one of the most skilled teams in the nation too. Karaban at the 4...this new kid Reibe...this recruiting class is crazy skilled. Ball is probably the single best offensive player without the ball in his hands in the entire country too. I can't believe they retained so many players too. Makes no sense.

No sense but lots of dollars lol.

Do we have any info on who the actual real No. 1 PG target was this offseason? I believe Darling is going to be good for us, but probably would have been more wise to have recruited Smith, which I don't think we did at all. So who did staff think they were getting?

Was there a kid they thought was in the bag but slipped away? I definitely have heard some conflicting stories.
