Around the Big East 25-26

OK, I took a look at the guy's blog on this. The number he references for Pitino is not pulled from 2024. It is actually from calendar year 2023, and since Pitino didn't get hired until late March it only represents about 9 months of his compensation. So do the math and it works out to an annualized compensation of about $3.2 million, which is what the NYPost and others had reported. That would put Pitino ahead of McDermott, which would make sense.

I hate when bloggers like this post such misleading stuff.
There is so much misinformation out there on salaries.

That said imagine being a Seton Hall fan (wherever they are) and reading something from a CBB blog that says Sha and Pitino make the same salary. Than find the bridge you would jump from.

Pre NIL , the Hall didn’t do too badly . Willard regularly got NY kids to E , Orange .

Including Shaheen , etc .

Using St John’s as a example , the Top tier of the School Administration has to be all in on funding a competitive BB program

Which means a good AD, Skilled Coach and , the money to be competitive to attract talent .

And , in today’s game , you have to be a active player in the portal market .

Sure , it’s great to pick up the McD All Americans but , usually they only deliver a 1 season performance . Then on to NBA .

While it’s true the Portal only delivers the 1 year transfer , they are already experienced College players with a Resume.

Look at Rutgers , even with Bailey and Harper , they couldn’t make the Tourney .

Great individual skills sometimes don’t translate into great Team performance .

Evidence the Scarlet Knights .

Pikiell V Pitino for one.

What Pitino makes ain't my business. He appears to be happy here, at home in New York. What he has accomplished in just two years at St John's is mind boggling. 31-5 last year and on the front and back pages of the local newspapers. 18-2 in the Big East, Regular Season and Big East Tournament Championships.

Coach Pitino's focus is to win a National Championship at St John's. Once he accomplishes this, his Legacy as one of the best, if not the best college coach of all time, will be cemented.

In case y'all haven't noticed, Coach Pitino plays Chess, not Checkers.

Too true. And maybe CRP also lives by Joseph Heller's words to Kurt Vonnegut.

True story, Word of Honor:
Joseph Heller, an important and funny writer
now dead,
and I were at a party given by a billionaire
on Shelter Island.

I said, “Joe, how does it make you feel
to know that our host only yesterday
may have made more money
than your novel ‘Catch-22’
has earned in its entire history?”
And Joe said, “I’ve got something he can never have.”
And I said, “What on earth could that be, Joe?”
And Joe said, “The knowledge that I’ve got enough.”
Not bad! Rest in peace!”
