Former Wake Forest star and 12-year NBA player Rodney Rogers died on Friday. He was 54. He had been a quadriplegic since a biking accident in 2008. Cause of death has been ruled natural causes linked to the spinal injury he sustained from the aforementioned accident.

I really enjoyed watching him pay while he was at Wake Forest.

I forgot to add that he was one of the college players (along with Chris Webber, Grant Hill, Allan Houston, Jamal Mashburn, Penny Hardaway, Eric Montross and Bobby Hurley who made up the 1992 Select Team who scrimmaged the Dream Team who helped them prepare for that Summer’s Olympics. Montross is another one who left us too soon (died of cancer at 52 in 2023).

A HBO Documentary premiered this year on the Select Team and their victory over the Dream Team in their first meeting. Poster Alumni Hall was there.
