Arizona -Like Us?

Right now Arizona has been behind in every game played thus far. In fact, Ball State had the lead yesterday for at least 30 minutes of the game. Like us, Arizona is still 3 & 0. Parrom got in the game for 18 minutes, even though he has had only one practice. You know he wants to be ready for the game at the garden.
The heralded freshmen, Josiah Turner, who started in the previous two games, was benched yesterday. Very interesting.

Arizona is very similar but they have more depth and more players back. Their best players are their youngsters. Neither Josiah nor Sidiki have played all that much. Should be a good matchup this week. I think our first 6 guys are ready to go. We have to defend. Let them try to beat us from the outside.

I'm on board with all that.

The funny thing is that their coach is probably saying very similar things, re: "Let them try to beat us from the oustide".

I'm sure they'd just add something like: "we need to slow them down b/c they can score in transition".

They are somewhat similiar to us, but they have better depth and seem to shoot the trey ball better than us (primarily, Fogg and Mayes). Honestly, their best players are the vets (Fogg, Hill and Perry). I've watched them play about 3 times in this early season and their vets are clearly the better players at this juncture.

I think it could be a pretty good game. Hopefully, we can get out of the gate pretty quickly on Thursday.

the jet bronco game might affect the amount of people who show up too which stinks

I'm a Giants fan, so I'll be at MSG cheering on the Johnnies Thursday night!!

My guess is a total attendance of around 11,500 for the doubleheader, which means 10,000 Johnnie fans is not happening. Remember, these games are not part of the season tickets.

I meant the total attendance for the game- not just Johnnie fans. If the Garden draws 11,500 they will be thrilled.

They're advertising the hell out of this.

And ironically there has been no promotion around the sick doubleheader tomorrow (Tuesday) with Duke, Mich St, Kansas and Kentucky.

My wife and I will be driving from Virginia to meet our son (an Arizona alum) to have dinner and go to the game. We would appreciate restaurant recommendations near the garden.

Most places near the garden are Bar/Pub types.

Irish times is having an Alumni event which I think a decent amount of us will be at. Run by the school $25 to get in and a free drink and free appetizers and chance to meet famous SJU Alum's like Mjmaherjr.

If you want more low key and less paparazzi I like Mustang Sallys a lot on 7th ave

For regular food there are some steakhouses like Keens and nick&stefs which I think is still around.

Many options searchable on Web, depends on what you like. Took friends from Alabama to a Portuguese/Spanish restaurant on 31st and 8th several years ago but it's been a while. Look up midtown west or lincoln/clinton neighborhoods for restaurant options.

Cafe 31 on 31st between 7th and 8th next to the Park and Lock has solid food choices. Place gets packed prior to games though.
