BARBER:
I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.

MOUNTIES:
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shoppin'
And has buttered scones for tea. He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars?!
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear Papa.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

Was it in The Meaning of Life? If it was in a movie I assume it was that one. Or was there a movie called now for something completely different. My python memory gets foggier as the years go by.

Warm, very warm.

Yes, it was one those movies. Think of the parrot...

What's the name of the song????

I always called it the lumberjack song. Don't know what the real name was.

That is correct and Now for Something Completely Different. You win the kewpie doll.

Now, can you sing Always Look on the Bright Side of Life without looking up the lyrics?

No, but I can whistle it.

Well I've had the Benny Hill theme song stuck in my head for days even though I haven't seen it in many years. And I've also been praying for beer...

I assue the beer comment is related to someone's patron saint?

Now you guys are singing my tune. Little known fact: "Bright Side of Life..." was actually written to be the St. John's basketball fight song. ;)

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best

And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing

"Lumberjack Song" was also featured in The Concert for George [Harrison] tribute ... sung by a group that included Pythons Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Terry Gilliam, as well as Tom Hanks. Great stuff!

P.S.. My favorite Python song is, without a doubt, "Come Sit on My Face."
