An interesting fact about this team

St. John’s hasn’t made the tournament in four years and hasn’t won a tournament game in 18 years yet we have 5 guys (4 of them starters) that have experience in the NCAA tournament.

Clark - went to two tournaments with Michigan State and played a big role in an Elite Eight win that sent them to the Final Four.

Keita - Played 10 mpg for the season for SC and a total of 30 mins in the tournament on their run to the Final Four.

Heron - Made it to the second round of the 2018 tournament with Auburn

Simon - Was a member of #6 seed Arizona as they lost to Wichita State.

Figueroa- Was a redshirt for 28-6 New Mexico State who lost to Baylor in the first round.

How unusual is that?

Interesting indeed, and hopefully will be helpful in settling the team in when we get tot he tourney this year.

i just wish we would got an NIT bid last year for some needed team experience in any kind of tournament.

I thought Figueroa committed to New Mexico St. but never was with the team and went straight to JUCO ??

He committed in the fall, enrolled early for the spring semester, and then left after the coach and his staff moved on to the University of New Mexico. I believe he was blocked from following the staff to New Mexico. Lucky for us.

“Figueroa was enrolled at NMSU for the spring semester and even though he never played a minute for the Aggies, NMSU could block a transfer to UNM, UTEP or any other Western Athletic Conference school.”

Btw, his former teammate at NMSU, AJ Harris, is a 5’9 PG who was a top 100 RSCI recruit that transferred from Ohio St. and will be an immediately eligible grad transfer. NMSU is 24-4 this year.

Personally I never wanna see us in the NIT again after the Robert Morris debacle
