There certainly is. I am trying to generate some interest in creating a virtual HOF exhibit at SJU. The interest is there, but this is a crazy year to try to get anything additional done beyond holding the fort up, keeing athletes healthy, and getting games played. Coach is one of the nicest and kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting
He is, hands down, the greatest ambassador of St John's basketball

Looie's dance at the conclusion of the 1986 Big East championship game was my favorite Looie moment. I was working that night but made it to a bar in NYC with about 10 minutes to go. I didn't have to search for the game. Every NYC bar had it on. The last 5 minutes of that game was as intense as it can get. Two long time rivals in the same state battling for more than just a conference championship. If the last 15 seconds is not blasted on the scoreboard before every game in C.A., that should be changed. There are no NBA moments that can match the joy the team showed when the buzzer sounded. Watching it again, Pearl made a great move and makes the layup if Berry didn't hang in the air and block the shot at the last second. The Rowan shot was great, but the Looie dance, preceded by Looie's conniption as Pearl flew down the court was something we will never see the likes of again.
When I first saw this thread, I thought we were recruiting a center. And I figured, oh hell, we had God's Gift, so Amazing Treasure Lou it is. Lol. When I opened it up, it’s an even better story than a top center prospect would be. Always love Coach Lou and any stories about him. Such a great man and face of our university. God bless you Louie!!!
Lapchick and Looie. I think it was an eight year period that SJU had them both on the sideline together as head and assistant coach. Quite a combo.

Those present at the Mullin introductory presser recall the Coach C. presented Chris with a dog eared business card with those words inscribed on it. Looie carried it for 50 years in his wallet as it was given to him by Lapchick.
The succession of coaching legends from Lapchick to Carnesecca to Mullin didn't quite have the storybook ending it promised. But it did remind me of the powerful and substantial tradition of sju basketball to the identity of St John's.
No person before or likely after, personifies that wonderful tradition better than Coach C. Even in recent years he has eschewed some honors unless Coach Kaiser is similarly honored. Beautiful gesture by a beautiful man, beloved by all of us.

I admired him from afar until one night, I was on an elevator in the Garden, and lo and behold, little Luigi gets on, just the two of us. He proceeds to ask me how I was doing and asked about my fmaily and meant it. He wished me well, and could not have been kinder and generous of spirit.
I completely understand why he is universally liked and respected.
(Bruce Beck of WNBC did a piece about how Looie was holding up during the pandemic, it was a great; you could tell Bruce loves Looie)
