Does he finally get paid to play? When I ran into him at Belmont he told me he was broke. He looked it with his reaction to hitting a $60 ticket.

I'm sure he'll end up just fine financially...

don't feel too bad for Amar financially..remember. he's got a super hot girlfriend

Good Luck Amar.

Yep. I know.

Can't help but thinking that some day at some level, Amar is going to start nailing threes, and we are going to think the inevitable

SJU release;

June 5, 2018
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John’s basketball alumnus Amar Alibegovic has been named to the preliminary list of players that will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European World Cup Qualifiers later this month. The 6-foot-9 forward is among 24 candidates who will compete for the national team with the hopes of qualifying for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

A four-year letterwinner for the Red Storm, Alibegovic appeared in 107 games including 61 BIG EAST appearances during his time in Queens. He finished his career with 287 points, 177 rebounds, 28 blocks and 28 steals.

Alibegovic helped St. John’s earn an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, making 24 appearances during his freshman campaign. In his second season, Alibegovic was one of five Johnnies to play in all 32 games and averaged a career-best 5.1 points per contest. He scored double-figures six times in 2015-16, including a memorable 15 point performance to lift the Johnnies past Syracuse at Madison Square Garden. Over the course of his final two seasons, Alibegovic provided veteran leadership for the Johnnies in notable wins, as he made appearances in a pair of BIG EAST Tournament victories over Georgetown and against No. 5 Duke.

Bosnia and Herzegovina opens play in Group E of the European World Cup Qualifiers on June 29 at Mejdan Arena in Tuzla. Three days later, the team will take on Belgium at Lotto Arena in Antwerp. Both contests are available on LiveBasketball.TV.

Saw on twitter he signed with the Golden State Warriors, Virtus Roma must be very excited to get a guy who averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds kind of like when we got Joey De la Rosa. ;) :)[/quote]

Virtus Roma used to be a very good organization in Italian basketball. Although they once played in Serie A's top division they now play in the 2nd division and choose to spend very little on players. It wouldn't surprise me if Amar is earning G league money in very expensive Rome. He is the 2nd St. John's player to be signed by Virtus with the equally underperforming Shelton Jones being the first.

Don't put Amar and Sheldon Jones in the same sentence. He may not have fulfilled his potential but IMO he was St. John's Magic Johnson and was misused by Looie.

Yeah 72 thats extremely disrespectful to Sheldon Jones. He was solid for us though not spectacular. AliB while a nice kid was close to a 0 basketball-wise.

Shelton Jones had a career night at mjmaherjr's first ever SJU game at Alumni Hall against Providence. That was the night I gave a silent verbal to SJU and my lifelong torment as a SJU fan
