I'm sorry, but what a bust Sonny Gray turned out to be for the yanks.

And that's all great but last Thursday blown a 4-1 going to the 5th when if they won combined with Boston losing they would have cut it to 1 with 3 go to. We all know what happened tonight.

Oh sorry. Didn't realize you were using such a solid sample size ;)

Does Sevy suck because Boston lit him up and he couldn't pitch an inning on Tuesday ?

Gray has become a classic example of a nibbler. Can't pitch effectively and win like that.

Nope, playoffs is at a whole other level. At the very least he got playoff experience.
I didn't expect much from Garcia (though he pitched better then Sonny.), but with CC up there in age, Tanaka struggling, and Montgomery just a rookie, I was thinking of him as a solid #2. Wasn't his last 6 games in Oakland something like 1.37???
I'm just very disappointed.

Sonny put up a dud last night, but he's still generally a good pitcher. I've never bought into the notion that he's anything close to a #1 starter, but I think he's an effective #2 or #3 guy. Yankees gave up a lot for him, but I'd still pull the trigger given the lack of good starting pitchers in this league. Think about it, the team already has Gray, Severino, Tanaka (he's not opting out), and Montgomery locked up for 2018. And hopefully they can go the Andy Pettitte route with CC and bring him back on a short term deal while he's still reliable. Combine that with the fact that Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield are knocking on the door and the staff is in a very good spot.

Game was sad they look totally over matched Indians have better starting pitching We have guys like Tanaka who they pd a bundle for and he is not good enough to start the series and get this team up a game Serverino looked like a double A PITCHER they might not win a game in this series

Can't argue the fact that Tanaka had a disappointing season, but let's not forget he had a career record of 39-16 with a 3.12 ERA coming into 2017. And he's only 28, so I'm going to write off this season and hope he rebounds in 2018. As for Severino, true he was terrible in his first postseason start. But the guy is only 23 and will finish top 5 in CYA. The sky is the limit for him.

Yanks lost this game because Cleveland 's pitching was great and the Yanks hitters weren't. Cleveland got 5 hits to the Yankees' 3. We gave up 6 walks vs. 3 for the tribe. It was a Pitchers duel. Today is another day.
On the positive side-Betances is back.

You're very disappointed? I couldn't tell ;)

His ERA in Oak this year was 3.43. With NYY it was 3.72. From a big pitchers park to Yankee Stadium that's pretty much a wash.

I understand the disappointment. But I'm looking at it as we're a year ahead of where we need to be. So I can't get too upset with everything. Yes he's not an ace. He's a 2/3. But he's a money controlled 2/3 that we gave up a hell of a lot of question marks for. Also players who had blocked paths to big leagues.

Obviously facing Kluber tonight is a rough spot and going down 2-0 is very possible. They will probably take a game back home and then likely flame out.

This team is going to have to learn how to score runs without having to go over the outfield wall. All they are going to see in the playoffs is off speed pitches. You can't win in the playoffs relying on the Long ball and your bullpen for 4+ innings every game.

Future is bright!

I'll make a prediction.

If Yanks win tonight Severino will redeem himself.
The question is, how will Tanaka pitch tonight. Will it be the sucky Tanaka or the Tanaka that showed up the last game of the season, where he got 15Ks and looked great.

Stay tuned

Can't ask for a better start for him.
3 up, 3 down with 2 Ks.

The pitches the Yankee hit swing at are so far off the plate its hard to watch Just feel this game is starting to lean Cleveland
