Alabama (MSG), Sat., Nov. 8, 12 Noon, FS-1/ 1050 AM

Bama made 8 more 2 point shots and outscored is by 15 points on 3’s .
33 to 18 .
We outscored them by 12 at the foul line .

Pitno now0-2 in last 2 games vs SEC teams . Calipari and Oats

Both losses came with flops down last 5 minutes of both games . Questionable subs in game on both occasions .

We will be BE contenders but , unless Sanon and Jackson can defend quick guards and we get some great PG play from Darling , we aren’t a National title player .

It’s a biter pill of reality to realize so early in the Season .

Because the refs handed us 40 free throws! It would have been more if we didn’t miss the front ends of one and ones. We may not get that kind of whistle for the rest of the season.

Every good team will learn to foul less as the season progresses. We can’t learn to be longer/more athletic or some how get a structured offense for the first time in 3 years.

This roster sucks for the money that was spent on it. We could have just kept our returnees and bought Philon or Pettiford and been better off.
True. Not as close given the FTs.

Tir Na Nog WTF ! We are sitting down ordering and ordered nachos then asked for fries with cheese on top and they said they don’t do anything off menu. If you put cheese on the nachos you can’t put them on fries ?
Then I asked for a side order or melted cheese and happys wife says “ why can you put cheese on the nachos and not the fries ? “

There is no comparison whatsoever to their execution. We weren’t even screening man. We can’t move the ball at all.

We had no spacing and they had us spread out so bad that we never got help in the lane. There is simply no comparison to one of our guys charging recklessly into a packed lane and one of their guys taking it to a wide open lane with ball reversal and screening.
Yeah, that's not an offensive structure problem it's a roster problem. Alabama is able to spread you out because they always have at least 4 guys on the floor that can shoot. We're lucky if we have 3 on the floor at a given time that teams have to guard out at the 3 point line.

What happened to the great shooting guards we were supposed to have this year! The spacing when we are on offense is terrible. We never have an open uncontested shot. Our offense consists predominantly of driving to the basket with no lanes open! Sellers does not seem to be the answer at point guard! He does not distribute the ball well at all!
We played a very good team today in ALABAMA. Rick has a lot of work to do!

Wasn’t able to watch in full. Caught a minute here and there while tracking the score. That type of discrepancy in 3s puts so much pressure on you everywhere else. And looks/seems like even with the bigger lineup, extra possessions hurt us big.

Would have loved to see Darling out there for a multitude of reasons, namely how would our offense look with him. I think this Bama team is gonna torch good defenses.

That's bs, most places would do that for an additional $1-$2.
Talk to the manager.

All true. But we are integrating so many new parts.
Alabama had Philon, Holloway, Mallette, Sherril, Wrightsell in the program last year. Lot of continuity.

A lot not to like today. But there are reasons to think we will improve on both sides of the ball (more so than other teams do).

I am one of the more positive fans, but this roster ain’t it. We have two 4’s starting and both had just 1 offensive rebound and 3 defensive rebounds. We cannot beat a top 20 team if those guys don’t get offensive rebounds. What is the point of playing “big” if we at getting dominated on the glass?

We cannot defend guards — we had a 3/4 Ayo covering a 6’1 PG and he was the only one doing a halfway decent job.

We don’t have a guard that can just take over on his own. We don’t have the offensive structure to create open looks for shooters.

We are probably a top 20-25 team — and that is great — but we are not a Final Four contender.

Why do their soph guards look like NBA veterans and our soph guards look like true freshmen?

We are 0-2 at home against major conference opponents. We’ll beat up on the crappy Big East and then fold in the the tournament.

We should have lost by 20. It was a complete mismatch. The score does not tell the story. They crushed us on the glass. They got into the lane at will. We don’t have a single guard that can stay within 5 feet of a step-back.

We got a very friendly whistle and Zuby played the best half of his life.

Alabama manufactured dozens of buckets. We maybe manufactured 4 all game. The rest was Norm Roberts level one-on-one.
So you are saying that we will be lucky to make the NIT???

Oh brother

We scored 1.14 points per possession today. Offense wasn't perfect but it wasn't the problem. Defense was. I don't think Darling would have helped much there
Darling would have helped the last three minutes of the game to control the half court offense. You can’t have Zuby initiating offense from the top of the key in that situation.

The lack of shots by our guards stepping in to a shot is what I noticed.

I generally respect your opinion, but there’s a lot of hot takes here. It’s WAY to early…

This seems more like a game 25 comment, not game 2, so praying you turn out to be wrong both now and in future.
Exactly, what were some saying after we lost back to back to Baylor and Georgia last year. Even Pitino’s first year , that team really peaked at the end and played like an NCAA tournament team. I have absolute faith in Pitino.
