Alabama (MSG), Sat., Nov. 8, 12 Noon, FS-1/ 1050 AM

We played well. Not great but well. We had some good runs. Free throws and rebounding hurt us. We got out played.
We should have lost by 20. It was a complete mismatch. The score does not tell the story. They crushed us on the glass. They got into the lane at will. We don’t have a single guard that can stay within 5 feet of a step-back.

We got a very friendly whistle and Zuby played the best half of his life.

Alabama manufactured dozens of buckets. We maybe manufactured 4 all game. The rest was Norm Roberts level one-on-one.

Our lack of defensive rebounding was our downfall if you want just try and identify one thing. Gave them way too many second chances
Exactly, they got 18 more shots off and God knows how many second chance points. Not sure these guys have the same stones as last year's team. For all the money spent and hype I think I'd rather have Scott, Kadary and RJ over Sellers, Mitchell and Sanon.

I don’t see fans going out on a ledge. I do see it is fair game to worry about how well our guards can compete w the big boys. I am sure Rick has concerns and will go to work on this. This is a Dance team with potential there, but perhaps not the top 5 team some rated at this point.

Can’t wait until the next tough game comes.

I don't think there's any way RP could have watched his tape and thought he was legitimately going to run the point for us. Said what he had to say to get the kid to sign, which I am all for to be honest.

The biggest problem is that I didn't see enough of the same tape and bought the lie for a while. 🤣
Maybe we should've gone after Cadeau after all, lol.

I'm not gonna panic....yet. Hopefully, Darling ends up manning the point ala Hatten and Hardy. Not in point productivity, but in the ability to man down the spot and do more than an adequate job.

The frontcourt is legit. One of the best, if not best in the country. The backcourt will come around.

My big takeaways:
1. Hopkins rusty but still decent against great athletes. Very good sign. Could have elite front court with Zuby
2. Offense very disorganized. The PG issues documented on this board are real
3. On ball defending was kind of shocking. Pitinos ability to teach team defense (a huge strength of his) will be tested. And how that goes will determine whether we are a legitimate top ten team or an early tournament loser.

If Bama was cold from three and we won this game, we’d have the same issues. Overall disappointing performance but college hoops teams are completely different in March.

Thanks to all the fans in attendance. Looked like a great atmosphere.

Complete chaos down the stretch. One can spin this game many ways but trying to play without a point guard is a very daunting task at this level. Jackson and Sellers certainly got more aggressive in the 2nd half to mixed results.
Back court and overall defense on the pick and roll horrendous as was the 2nd half hustle. I get the offensive rebounds, it is tough to board when you are always scrambling on defense but Bama got virtually every 50-50 ball.
So very early but no idea what this team is but far from a cohesive group right now that’s for sure.

It was tied with 3 minutes left, please
Because the refs handed us 40 free throws! It would have been more if we didn’t miss the front ends of one and ones. We may not get that kind of whistle for the rest of the season.

Every good team will learn to foul less as the season progresses. We can’t learn to be longer/more athletic or some how get a structured offense for the first time in 3 years.

This roster sucks for the money that was spent on it. We could have just kept our returnees and bought Philon or Pettiford and been better off.
