Alabama (MSG), Sat., Nov. 8, 12 Noon, FS-1/ 1050 AM

Lee would have gotten blown by just like our current guys did.

So the difference in points would have had to have been made up in better trips on the offensive end. Which I guess a real PG would help with.

Agree , Lee wouldn’t have helped on Defense but , ball distribution and making plays on offense might have .

Boogie would have scrapped better With their guards and beaten them off the dribble just as they did to us , all game .

I loved our depth going into season so it would suck if certain guys turn out to be unplayable together.

I hope five or 10 games from now we aren't thinking that one of Sellers, Sanon, or Jackson should never have been brought in, with that money better spent on a PG.

A lot of doom and gloom for a very small sample size of games. Remember that Kadary looked out of sorts for a while last year then when he clicked, he was awesome. This is why RP played these games. He wants the team challenged early and often. At this point a loss may be better than a win for teaching. Maybe hold off on April predictions for another few weeks.

Might be unfair to say we can't contend for a title but we have a longer way to go and much bigger question marks than at least 12-15 other teams that could be considered contenders
Really? You can confidently say that already. All power to you.

I look around the top 15 and see several squads who haven’t played a real team yet. I see teams that have played sloppy games against low major competition.

course we have things to work on. We’re far from the only team in the country that can say that. A lot of these rosters were almost completely formed during the summer, including ours. It’s not gonna be a finished product in early November.

I get and share some of the concerns but I’d like to see us play more high level games before I confidently act like there is some huge chasm of space between us and other contenders

Usually when you put up 96 points, you win...obviously our D was less than stellar today. Alabama guards took our guards to the cleaners, plain & simple...we couldn't keep up. Rick will address both issues, I'm fully confident that our HOF coach will get us where we need to be. Great takeaway, we shot 35% from 3, Bama shot 31%...bad news they took twice as many from 3 as we did. We will be more than fine!

Because the refs handed us 40 free throws! It would have been more if we didn’t miss the front ends of one and ones. We may not get that kind of whistle for the rest of the season.

Every good team will learn to foul less as the season progresses. We can’t learn to be longer/more athletic or some how get a structured offense for the first time in 3 years.

This roster sucks for the money that was spent on it. We could have just kept our returnees and bought Philon or Pettiford and been better off.

Let’s be fair, while our guards were clearly outplayed, we weren’t handed 40 FTs…they had no answer for Zuby and Hopkins resulting in legit FTs.

Best part of the game for me was getting to meet and sit with @Jnaw17. Great guy!

As for the team, it's easy to forget how we looked at this point last year. Last year's team at this point in the season probably would have been destroyed by Alabama.

I'm actually way more optimistic. I think we have huge upside, and it's just up to Pitino to unlock it. I really think this is the most talented roster we've had in decades.

We scored in the 90s defense was the problem

Well , if you think so . They scored 33 points on Deep 3’s . We scored 18 . That’s a shooting issue .

That is a 15 point difference . They were the Quicker team at every position . When you get beat like a drum on defense by quicker players , it means you were out talented .

Face it , they beat us at every facet of the game .

Nice rally until last 5 minutes where we collapsed at crunch time .

Didn’t say their guards weren’t quicker their guards killed us but how did they beat us at every facet of the game when our front court was better ?

It's almost as if folks don't remember the early Baylor and Georgia games last season.

Bama's guards had their way. Our front court was an advantage. Our guards helped much more offensively in the second half, but that is still a work in progress, as is the defense with this group overall.

It was a fun game and atmosphere to be at. Even though we came up short, this game will benefit this team down-the-road IMO.
