Alabama game 11/8

If you are coming to Manhattan, stay in Manhattan unless you want to spend a lot of time travelling. You can find cheap hotels on Expedia, and if you wait until day of arrival you can get 4 star mystery hotels with unsold rooms at a fraction of the rack price. Keep in mind NYC is not as safe as it was and if you will be travelling by subway at off hours, it can be dangerous. Better to be in Manhattan. Better restaurants and music scene.

I would try flushing. Should have rooms between 150 - 225 and is walking distance to lirr. only 10 mins from LGA so most hotels have a free shuttle to the airport so you save 2 urbers. Some of the best chineese and korean food in the country is a plus.
Don’t know if you’re still in Flushing area JS but looking at Port Washington schedule it looks like not all the trains stop at Broadway, Murray Hill and Flushing Main Street. Some go right from Bayside to Woodside. Was surprised to see that as I took LIRR to work for many years from Murray Hill, Flushing.

Kew Motor Inn and subway to city. I heard it's a nice place.

:)

Seriously, plenty of good options given here. Enjoy our city and the game. You must be a great fan so have a terrific time.

P.s. if you ride the subways stand in middle of platform till the train pulls in. Only talk to lunatics if they are wearing Johnnies gear.

Ask for the Donald Manes Presidential Suite.

Wanna thank everybody who responded for recommendations. Sorting through all those and trying to figure out what is best. Everybody’s advice big or small has been great. Me and the wife usually attend multiple road games a year and knowing it’s probably the only time I’ll ever see Bama play in MSG, it’s too great of an opportunity to pass up. Look forward to being back in the city and watching a great day of basketball. There will not be many bama fans in attendance as most people’s main attention will be on LSU coming to Tuscaloosa for the game of the day in college football that same Saturday, but I am pumped to see basketball in person and finding a tv later that night to watch football.
Thanks for everything. I have nothing but good things to say so far about your fan base.

On the weekends they all do I believe.

BBGuy800 -

Your head must be spinning from all the suggestions. I lived for 42 years in New York (Flushing), 16 in central New Jersey and the last 14 in North Carolina (Mooresville). They are all nice places although if I had my druthers (I probably won't lol) I'd stay in NC.

We are headed up to NY (Queens) for a memorial service at the end of November and are staying at the above Best Western in Bayside. Decent hotel in a very convenient location with a very nice old school Spanish restaurant on the ground floor and 4 blocks from all the restaurants and bars on Bell Boulevard - somewhere between $250-300 per night. It is also only a four block walk from the Long Island Rail Road station where the train will take you directly into Penn Station right below the Garden in 25-30 minutes, a very relaxing ride. It is an easy Uber to and from LaGuardia. We have one daughter in Brooklyn and one in Weehawken and until 2021 also had one in Jersey City so we do the NC to NY/NJ trip 3 times a year and I stopped flying into Newark airport two years ago as LGA is just so much nicer but that's just me.

You have lots of good options. If this is going to be your second trip to the Big Apple, I'd recommend trying to see a bit of it when you're in there. Agree with BrookJerseyRedmen on Keens being a great place for a pre or post game meal if you are willing to splurge a little.
I had my engagement party at Marbella 30 years ago.

Hell, we will buy you and your wife a drink! Great basketball fans are special. Welcome to NYC!
