Adidas v Nike v UnderArmour Etc

I'm assuming there will be more options / designs as we get closer to the season. The initial roll out was pretty basic. Hopefully things ramp up the closer we get to opening night.

heads up to people ordering - the sweatshirts run pretty big so consider sizing down unless you like the oversize feel/look and the t shirts are regular cotton not that dri-fit material - (the red shirt that says we are new yorks team and the black shirt with SJU logo) for those that care. The Golf pullover is very nice and true to size fitting

Even DePaul has cleaned up their logos and typography. We as fans are screaming for a more cutting edge, attractive primary/secondary logo and a newmascot that can be pop on apparel to match our on court success. The time is now to revamp the branding.

I'm with you, brother. We're located at the heart of the world's creative industries. We've seen a lot of positive changes; love much of what Ed Kull is doing; and, as always, winning changes everything. We can be a bright shining light in the college hoops business right now.

Personally I think the StJ logo is solid, especially now that the team finally is nationally relevant casual fans should be familiar with it. There are some things I'd love to see, though:

1. Make a strong effort to acquire (or share) trademark rights to "SJU" with St. Joe's. Yes, I get this is a long shot but obtaining the rights would be huge and open up so many new apparel opportunities. Our endowment is almost double theirs, so maybe there's a chance.
2. If we can't acquire the SJU logo, I wonder if it would be possible to make a StJU logo (basically add a U) or if that would be considered trademark infringement. I'm guessing the latter.
3. Make an official Johnnies logo. Most fans seem to use this name more often than Red Storm, so I don't get why it hasn't been done yet (unless if there is a trademark issue?).
4. Rebrand the mascot logo. The current Johnnny Thunderbird walking side profile hasn't caught on. When you think UConn the first thing that comes to mind is the husky logo. Huge opportunity for apparel. and there's no better time to do it. Like suggestion #3 there really is nothing to lose here.
5. Incorporate the NYC theme more in apparel, such as the skyline. A lot of people, myself included, decided to come to NYC first before choosing SJU. Endless opportunities with NYC themes, maybe could even incorporate MSG to further solidify that relationship.

Regardless of whether we're with Nike, UA, Adidas, etc., do a couple of these (the latter 3 all should be very doable), and merch sales are guaranteed to improve. For now I personally don't see a reason to switch my current Nike and UA Johnnies apparel to the Adidas designs.

Just drove over to the school to get some merch at the bookstore. Man adidas has a lot of work to do to improve their shirts. Got some other stuff that SJU had
Any good sales on the Nike stuff? I was expecting a big liquidation sale but on the bookstore website i see stuff for only 20% off.

I've personally never been a fan of the current logo which has been in place the past two decades. It feels so bland and uninspired. Loved the logos of the mid 90s to early 00s. You can see the history of how the logo has evolved in the link below.

Yeah that's fair, it comes down to personal preference but I do like the current clean StJ look the most of those. It also depends on apparel though, because while StJ looks great on a cap (the main cap I wear), it does look a little bland on a shirt for instance.

I am confident that we will see marked improvements next year, as Adidas did not have much time to roll out new designs.

They will not mess the NYC college basketball team. They have a lot riding on it. The team will be good and will garner a lot of attention, and Adidas will want to showcase SJU with merchandise worth buying.

This is a current design? Yeah that looks cool, but wish they were more consistent because I haven't seen that before and would've assumed it wasn't officially licensed. Personally while I do like the StJ logo I don't care too much for the StJohn"s extended logo. Your hat logo looks better than it.

I don’t know if it’s current or from last year etc. they had a ton of hat inventory I was definitely thinking about buying some others. Was hoping to buy some St. John’s polo type golf shirts and that inventory was even worse ( as far as nothing there except 1 type ). Sweatshirts weren’t too bad but I have like 8 of them already and wear the same 1 or 2 to every game because I’m superstitious.

Heck even with hats I wear the same hat with Carnesseca Arena sweat stains that goes back to when Kranmars and I started sitting together during the Norm years even before 114 was formed

The fact that this logo, designed to appeal to children, is still stitched onto apparel and occasionally displayed at half court is horrible. It’s widely unseen bc no one buys it. A revamp has to happen as soon as possible bc the merchandise with this logo or the ultra bland boxed lettering is hundreds of thousands of dollars lost annually during this rebirth. I will die on this hill. Eviscerate Johnny Thunderbird, for the love of God, please -

At the very least, with zero imagination just resort to the intimidating horse that will always pop on clothing and connect us closer to the days of winning -
