From AD Goff yesterday on Twiter

#SJUBB What's up? Five quick tweets before I shut it down for the night. Headed to DePal in the morning. I love the opinions/ideas on Carnesecca. Yes, I would love to build a new on campus arena, but do not think that it feasible from the research we have conducted.

#SJUBB You do not have to tell me that CA needs renovating. I am in the building everyday. Not just the arena, but the entire building needs a renovation, including my office, our administrators/coaches offices, and all of our locker rooms, just to name a few areas. (2/5)

#SJUBB I do not want to abandon MSG. It is an important part of our history that I respect. I just want to play the right games in there. It costs a little more to play there now than it did in the '80s, so I have to make sure we are making sound financial decisions (3/5)

#SJUBB I think we can make Carnesecca an intimidating place to play, which would give us a true home court advantage. I want teams to dread playing in Carnesecca because of the beneficial atmosphere it can create for us. (4/5)

#SJUBB Lastly, I just want to thank all of you that have stood by us the entire season. If you haven't or frequently disagree with me, it's all good. No hate from me. But, I do hope at the end of the day you want us to win. Sorry for the 5 tweets, but wanted to answer (5/5)

You take away MSG a little by little and you only make recruiting much more difficult. This is our main draw. Come on the money has to go somewhere. And making CA an intimidating place at the expense of playing less games at the World's Most Famous Arena is a big mistake. What recruit in his right mind wants to play mostly in a Division 2 arena?

This past weeks two home games is a perfect example of how to schedule. The Duke game at MSG was an electrifying environment and not too far behind was the Marquette game at CA. Had the Marquette game been played at MSG it would have been played in a half empty arena with much less excitement then at CA.
MSG is for games vs top national teams, old big east rivals (Syr Conn ND ) and Vill and hopefully Geo from the league. Perhaps other big east games will draw better in the future. The Seton Hall game will be a good test in a couple of weeks. If SJU feels the program is on the rise they should schedule two games every year vs top draws every year. Those games are what draws recruits.

Problem is we can't legitimately fill seats to meet the break even point (someone noted 10K seats need to be guaranteed) to not be a financial hit.

Our results on the court will determine our ability to earn right to play at MSG and continue to use as a selling point to recruits.

Reality is we're only earning that right today based on legacy rivalries funded by nostalgic fans, and/or fans of those opposing teams.
