blueberry?

I'm going to be kicked off this site with more such remarks - it's morning I'm hungry and on a diet

all the best

PS great documentary on Custer this week - my fellow alumni/alumnus whatever - and good analogy - we are fighting the last stand this year - but wait til next - we should play the Fighting Sioux (school?) this year

Gift hasn't found any consistency. He double-doubles vs UK but then tanks vs Nova. He'll certainly take on more of a supportive role next year if we bring in a few decent big guys. He has ability, but needs to work in the offseason on positioning, footwork etc.

Thinking the same after watching his poor rebounding performance yesterday. Hopefully, we get Gathers and company.

I actually like GG a lot, even with the poor performance yesterday. As a PF, i think he can be a monster. He is ripped, really strong, and very athletic. He gets off the floor, and is quick for his size. The problem is when matched against three guys bigger and as strong as him, its hard to be a one man show down low. With a supporitng cast, a lot of these problems will go away when he can play a supporting role

+1

GG's stat line is the biggest reason we lost. His fault or not, we got whooped on the boards, something like 48-32

And without his 3-4 charges the game doesn't go an extra 5 minutes.

Coach D says it was the free throw shooting. I can throw in bring it up against the press. In OT loss many things can be mentioned, and all right.

GG needs some help underneath. He's just trying to do too much. Maybe our GM can sign some Trees to help out next season.

You are right about the charges, gets great position. Pretty soon we are going to have a reputation like Duke has.

You have to have really good footwork to take a charge and not get called for a block. I'll repeat, I like him.

His footwork and speed on the court are due to his soccer skills. I am not sure how many here TiVo the games but I enjoy watching the games a day after attending a home game. It allows one to see who was working hard and who was not.
GG always seems to beat Moe Harkless down the court after a missed shot. He, D'Ang, Greene and to some extent Pointer and Amir play hard all the time.
As for Gift's numbers to date it may shock some here to know he is averaging 10.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game which is more than last year's seniors Burrell and Evans combined! COMBINED!!!!

No need to repeat yourself.
As for blaming his stat line on the loss that might need a second look.

if he could pass the ball it wouldn't have went an extra 5 , either ;)

If Moe hit some FT's it wouldn't have needed an extra 5.

I'm pretty sure GG missed all of his free throws. But he did grab 1 rebound and turned the ball over 4 times in 32 minutes of work.

Games are quickly becoming like Norm games where you just tune out but Moe was at the line a lot more than GG. Pretty sure GG had just 2 attempts and yes I recall him missing both.

That being said I think everyone would rank him behind Dee in terms of reliability from the FT line.

I think Mo having to play the entire game contributed to him clanking those Ft's.

I think someone may have said this before, but check the stats. GG must have stage fright, because he is horrible at MSG, but really good at home otherwise. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong tonight vs WV

Nova was too big for Achiuwa. He's not a center, and he has no help. He's a good player, just out of position and playing too many minutes at that spot for his size.

And anyway, he didn't lose the Nova game. Dunlap lost the Nova game. We were up 9 with 6 minutes to go, firing on all cylinders, and Dunlap decided it was time to take the air out of the ball (he also decided to stick Harrison back in the game at that point with 4 fouls instead of letting the squad on the floor, which was playing well, keep playing).

The only thing the SJU version of the prevent defense did was prevent us from winning.

This is because at CA we played William & Mary and Lehigh. At MSG we play L'Ville, G'town. Aka: Better talent.
