ACC NYC Desires

I'll bet the loyal fans of ACC member schools will be very excited and happy to read that after they pay their hard earned dollars to watch their teams all year long, at the end when the championship is to be determined the teams all go north leaving all that loyalty behind to read how it all turned out in the papers. It would not sit right with me, let's see what the folks who pay the bills have to say about it. Oh yes there will be some who will go where ever they play, but those people are in the minority.

Words can't begin to describe how much I despise the Syracuse program.

I'm with you Matt. Whenever I talk to a Syracuse fan and the ACC comes up I always make it a point of saying, "oh yeah, Carolina & Duke" suggesting no matter how much they want to deny it, they will always be playing in shadow of those schools.

This is my biggest fear as I truly believe they will displace what is now the Big East. Make no mistake about it, the BE traitors are the schools behind the push to move to nyc

I understand why you feel that way Dee, but I think we have more control over this than people are giving us credit for. I'm only talking about MSG obviously. As long as the Big East Tournament continues to be a marquee event, especially attendance wise, MSG will be hard pressed to get rid of us. If the students, fans & alums of the Big East schools feel like we do about the ACC, I welcome these articles. Just might be the motivation we need to show why the Garden is and always will be our house.

Beyond that, I believe that I read somewhere that the Big East has a long term contract with MSG for their tournament and that it is iron clad unless attendance slips below a specified level
As long as the league puts enough fannies in the seats, the ACC will have to look elsewhere. MSG won't be an option for them.
St John's is NYC's college basketball team. Screw Sarah-Cuse!!!

Cuse made a really stupid move. They went from being THE team in the old Big East with a strong NYC base and now they move to a more southern conference where they will arrive with 2 schools already with much better programs and some others on the rise i.e. Virginia, Miami, etc. It's like stepping down as President to become a worker bee. I hope they are ready to get beat up because they won't have top 5 or maybe even top 10 rankings very often anymore. They tried to fix something that wasn't broken, and hopefully after Boeheim leaves and their NYC influence dwindles they will feel the wrath of that decision.

It's all Syracuse. This is a lot of ACC posturing of course. They still feel like they need to try to squash us. I'll have a toast when Boeheim and Pitino retire...

Obviously I am not a big fan of Cuse but that being said their program ,recruiting and coaching are too good to fail. They will continue to be a top BB team until Boheim retires and if they do not put in the right person they could slip There moving is not going to hurt their recruiting their NY base has been cultivated to long .THEIR RECRUITING MIGHT JUST GET BETTER. .

Your point is very valid. These are not Mom and Pop Catholic shcools but big time business' who promote and promote and promote. Very little will stop them
if the end justifies the means.

In the long run, it wont matter for SJU.

The success of the new Big East, St. Johns & Fox sports over the next couple of years will be the things that actually destroy the BE.
These will be the provide the impetus for the ACC to poach SJU & G-town, thus destroying the BE as a major east coast competitor conference and dealing a blow to Fox sports as a espn competitor.

Not happening

I agree with Moose, I don't see the ACC ever adding non-football schools, no matter how successful those programs are. Dont be fooled by the Notre Dame deal. The ACC believes (whether right or wrong) that if and when ND ever decides to forego football independence, it will be the ACC that they will pick, hence why the ACC is now kissing up to ND.
