About the Providence game

Providence basically went with a 6 man rotation last season when Dunn was injured. It can work, but one more injury and they would have been toast. Same for us.

yeah but they had height up front and three guys who were dangerous from the outside including the best clutch player in the BE last year.

Have to play JDR more to give CO and Dom breathers and keep out of foul trouble. He can't score or hit FTs and don't want him at the end of a game, but I feel comfortable w him out there . He is a banger w size and is our only option out there for a big. CJ has showed nothing. Amar thinks he is a SF ,camps out on the perimeter looking to take a 3. Not what we need. One of Lavins shortcomings is he doesn't recruit players to compliment one another. How the 14 recruiting cycle came and went and JDR ,a walk on ,is our best option to spell the bigs,is beyond me.

Friars look bad against Georgetown and the Hoyas aren't playing well either. I wish we were playing them today instead of Wednesday.

I was at the PC G'town game and both teams were just off, period. However, Dunn did play well in the OT. He could be a tough matchup for our guards. Also Dom will probably end up on Henton, who is very skilled at drawing fouls, so coaches need to preach to dom to not take dumb fouls.

What was interesting was that none of the fans seemed to realize the recent struggles of SJU. The chatter on the way out was how good SJU was and how Wednesday is going to be tough. Hopefully the 8 day layoff will benefit us, considering how thin our depth is. Looking forward to seeing a Johnnies W on Wednesday.

Lav is going to have to start giving minutes to JDR and Alibegovic whether he wants to or not. It's better to get them experience now than force it on them with four minutes left in a big game when CO and/or Dom are fouled out.

They are only going to get better with time. I disagree with those that write that Alibegovic is just a big SF. I hate that that type of player more than anyone, but I think him going to the outside more than he probably should is a product of how uncomfortable he feels in the offense right now. Playing a few minutes every couple of games won't help that. Both he and JDR are a liability to pick up quick fouls (Alibegovic at an alarming rate), but they both hustle their butts off and box out on every single attempt. Alibegovic is exponentially more skilled and coordinated, but he also looks that much more uncomfortable.

Agree with you.. My take is though staff could have been much better in evaluating talent. What they have brought to the table has been good kids who try hard but outside of Dlo they would be hard pressed to start on top ten teams WE including myself expect more out of the players then their talent allows. Yes ,out of confer we won games but once again when confer play started and we went up against talented top 25 teams we had problems CO is a wonderful shot blocker but against big strong centers he is not up to par.Dom has been very good Greene occasionally branch no offense to speak of ,the bench so far the little time they received have shown they are a level below in talent.
I know this seems harsh but I respect all the players and staff I think we have to just sit back product that was given root ,hope for the best when they play and hope for much improvement on the recruiting scale Hope we can have a good game against PROVIDENCE

Agree. Don't mind Alibegovic and Stewart shooting threes, both have excellent form. Now, if they could only get in the game. Are you paying attention Lavin?
