About SJ gear...something else I have noticed

I'm currently a junior at STJ and I must say that the selection in the bookstore has gotten a ton better since I got here before the 2010/11 season.

They have jerseys year round and tons of nike branded clothing that is far from the generic stuff that used to be there.

Everything regarding the basketball program is improving, though at times slowly, and the bookstore is part of that improvement.

Marketing outside of the school is a different story...
 
I will always make the 45 minute or so trip down the LIE to see what the bookstore has and some of it is decent, but they can still do much better. I can think of some right off the top of my head and I'm not even in the design business. Red shirt, black NYC skyline in the background, and a basketball with SJ inside of it with a slogan like "New York's Team" or "Taking New York by Storm!". You know how Villanova has those awesome "NovaNation" shirts with that cool design on the back? We need stuff like that. Not just the lettering "St. John's" on a bland shirt. What about shirts saying "100 years of tradition" with replica banners screen printed on? This isn't rocket science...we could get a lot of much cooler stuff.

 I've seen that site, but they have no creativity...it's just the same SJ logo or lettering on different kinda of shirts and sweatshirts. No creative designs like I mentioned earlier. Honestly if I had enough money to take a risk with and mess around, I would design my own shirts and I guarantee students would be much more willing to buy them instead of boring ones in the bookstore for 25 bucks.
 
Way back when, two of Louie's managers had a sports store on Union Turnpike selling every imaginable piece of St.John's gear from leather jackets to hats. After they graduated I believe one of them became the athletic director at N.Y. Tech.

Redmen lockeroom owned by Larry Fallabela a old buddy of mine who was chris mullins roomate in apt. behind Eds pizza. its was a great store opened up in like 1987 or 88
 
Nike is making new t-shirts for the big conference teams scheduled to go on sale in early March. They are currently asking fans to submit what "rally cry" or "saying" should go on the shirt. They said the most creative one will be printed up. Pretty cool idea!

"The Redmen Locker Room" was the name of the store i believe, which was located on 183 st and Union Tpke... loved that joint!

Oh I did want to post about SJ gear real quick, I got some nice stuff from my family for christmas. I think we have some good gear honestly it is improving I have noticed, I could post pictures, but the gear I got ranges from t-shirts and sweatpants all the way to a Steve lavin bobblehead so I think we have some nice gear

Watching the Providence-DePaul game and Providence has new jerseys...gray with "Friars" in white and white stripes on the shorts. Very fresh looking.
 
It just hit me...you know how we are supposed to have a new grey color scheme? I would be willing to bet it's similar if not identical to this one below. I think The font and "St. John's" written out like that with the color scheme looks great! Then have grey shorts with red and white panels like Cuse has it. By the way, they better wear them for G'Town.

I hope they don't reveal these new uniforms for the Georgetown game.

The first reason is purely selfish, since I won't be able to make the Georgetown game, I wousl like to see them in person in another game.

Secondly (and in all seriousness of course), I am not crazy about using gray for the first time agaisnt Georgetown, a school known for its gray uniforms.

But it may be logistics since that may be the best game to maximize the attention of the new color scheme.

Or I will start a riot at the Garden! I think everyone knows I've been excited about seeing the new jersey debut for months now lol.
 
I'm going to be bringing my almost 3 year old to his first St. John's game against Pitt on 2/24 and I was looking to buy him a new T-Shirt for the game. He had a St. John's hoodie last year and I wanted to get him a new T-shirt for the game. It's impossible to find anything worthwhile in toddler sizes. Most of it stops after infant and starts back up at Child Small. Everytime I try to look up something in a 4T I get sent to this bizzaro red and white overall set. First of all, isn't a even a St. John's item. And secondly, if I put my kid in that, he should be taken away from me. It's ridiculous.

I just want a simple red St. John's t-shirt so I can put a while long sleeve shirt under it and he's have the T-shirt for the summer. Shouldn't be this hard to find
