OK, so I wanted to have a little nostalgic fun so I decided to see if I can test everyone's knowledge on St. John's hoops history. I will post the answers later tonight & this is being done on the honor system (no looking it up on Google, Wikipedia, etc.) There are 10 questions, you can feel free to take a stab at all ten or just one. Have fun, don't research and tonight I will post the answers.

1. St. John's first ever NCAA Tournament win came against which current Big East member?

2. Who is the only person to both serve as head coach & play for St. John's in the NCAA Tournament?

3. Which current Big East team does St. John's have a perfect winning record against in NCAA Tournament play?

4. True or False - St. John's has a losing record against Kentucky in NCAA Tournament play?

5. Which school has St. John's played more times than any other school in the NCAA Tournament ?

6. What future Basketball Hall of Fame Coach played for Kansas in the 1952 NCAA Title game against St. John's?

7. How many coaches has St. John's beaten in NCAA Tournament play who have won an NCAA Title?

8. Which two schools did St. John's play twice in the 90s in the NCAA Tournament?

9. How many Big East teams (current or former) has St. John's played in the NCAA Tournament?

10. Which team did St. John's hold to single digits in the 2nd half of an NCAA Tournament win?

I'm not even going to try and google any of this stuff. I only know one answer #8.

Duke and I think Ohio State

Well played MJ, Duke & Ohio St is the correct answer for #8.

Is your number 2 question looking for a St Johns head coach or a player who became a head coach anywhere ?

I should have clarified, he was also the coach at St. John's (now that is a very big hint) ; )

Ahh ok with the hint I know the answer. Frank McGuire

And my guess is the only person on this site other than you that could get all these questions right is ESPKEN

Great questions.

MJ, your luck has not extended to a 2nd consecutive correct choice, Frank McGuire is incorrect ; )

Yeah well my luck just dried up like the sahara desert because I don't know any of the other ones. LOL

For some reason while I have a remarkable memory in some things sports trivia isn't one of them anymore and I only became a SJU fan in 87.

I can't wait to hear what some of the other answers are from the older fan or better memory posters

These questions remind me of the 3rd or 4th of the 4 straight questions you must answer correctly to win a trip to the Super Bowl on Francessa's radio program-very difficult.

Good guess SI1996 but incorrect. St. John's outscored Samford 36-21 on route to a 69-43 win in that great 1999 NCAA run.

The Shockers actually outscored the Redmen 30-29 in the 2nd half in that 57-55 St. John's win in 1987.

Okay, so I'll say #1 is Temple, #4 is false, and #5 is Duke. The only question I knew the answer to was the one MJ answered, and I still remember each of those games pretty well. But I'll take a shot at these.

Jnaw 17 congrats, you answered # 4 correctly. St. John's has beaten Kentucky two of the three times they've played (winning in 1952 & 1985, losing in 1951). Your answers to numbers 1 & 5 however were incorrect. (FYI Temple has never been a member of Big East basketball).

NYC, thanks. I thought Temple was joining the Big East as a full member in 2013. It must not be the right answer to your question, but I thought they met the criteria as a future Big East member. Oh well. Good, tough questions you've posted.

You may be right actually about Temple now that I think of it, so I've re-worded question #1 to read "current Big East member" so as not to mislead. However Temple is not the answer for question #1 ; )

Las Vegan has nailed it, the often times forgotten Frank Mulzoff played for the 1951 squad which was also the first year St. John's went to the NCAA Tournament. Good work LV.
