5 questions for St. John's

Rawdognyc wrote among other things that Trimble does not have the talent to play in the big east and shouldn't be counted on to contribute much next season and I totally agree but where does this put Williams who most of us thought would be making contributions by the end of the season. If you don't get minutes over Trimble who contributed very little where do you stand for next year with Wright and Caraher coming on board?
Does Mullin hate to play freshmen like Looie?
Is this another case of the staff unable to get improvement out of a player?
Was the talent never there?
I guess we don't know the answer but if he was my kid he would try to find the answer at another school which maybe what Mullin was telling him at seasons end by keeping him on the bench for complete games recently while playing Trimble who I think probably shot about 10 per cent from three since the beginning of the big east season.

He used Trimble as a power forward to use his bigger body to bang with bigs underneath a different role altogether than what Williams provides. Hope Williams stays he has nice potential.

I too like Williams and hope he stays on board. Was frustrated he didn't see any minutes yesterday when several players looked horrible. What's worst case scenario by playing Williams yesterday? Doesn't score? Plus it would've given him a taste of March Madness. In regards to Trimble, that's what was most frustrating for me, the lack of hitting wide open three's when that's typically the main reason you're in there. Oh well, sit back and see how this crazy off-season will go. I won't be surprised by anything over the next few months. So many variables are in play.

The one thing we can't accept is inertia.

Trimble played over Williams because he supposedly offers the shooting that Williams doesn't have. Williams is a slasher/scorer. We already have 5 of those. We needed someone who could stand in the corner and catch and shoot off of a pass from the dribble penetration (if there ever was any). Trimble, as awful as he was, is much better suited for that role than Williams. So if Williamson would have player, it probably would have been with Trimble on the court as well. Not the ideal situation for the tournament.
