We had Scott too and Luis, which is only partially offset by Hopkins. So it seems we may be one frontcourt player short, unless those minutes are filled by an improved Vince and Prey, with which I'd be very happy.

If jackson commits, Im having a hard time seeing how Wilcher fits in here. As a jr, he should want major PT.
We will run a 3 guard alignment. Hes not a pg so his minutes will be at the 2 or 3. And in front of him at the 2/3 will be jackson, sanon, sellers.
If jackson signs, could we see Wilcher go portaling?

If I was Wilcher, I hit the portal. Bringing in 3 kids over me says all Id need to know.
Asking if you were the HC, what would you do?
Why is everyone sending Wilcher off and assuming new guys will start over him? He has two more years of experience in this system/playing for this coach than any of the new guys and was a very highly touted recruit himself.
I do not agree that Wilcher "is not a PG." I believe that his future IS at the point. If Lee does not come here then he would be in a rotation with Jackson and maybe Lewis at the point - and might well prove to be the most capable of the three at playing the position in a traditional sense. And would be set up to be a senior PG the year after.
Start Zuby, Hopkins and probably Sanon up front and Wilcher and Jackson in the backcourt, with Sellers coming off the bench unless he outpractices or outplays Sanon or Jackson to get into the starting lineup. Which doesn't really matter since everyone will get minutes anyway

He is as much of a PG as anyone on the roster. Look at Seller's stats prior to this year. He averaged 5 points and just 14 minutes as a soph. Players usually get better.
Wilcher averaged 25.4 minutes for the #5 team in the country as a soph and was the main guard defender for the #1 defense in the country. He has a two year jump on these guys in Pitino’s system.
No reason we can’t play 3-4 guards at once.
I like Wilcher as a player, but both the eye test and assist to turnover ratio (1:1) suggest he is not someone you want running the point for an extended period of time.

Sanon and Jackson are 5 star studs w/ nba potential. They are both getting major minutes. Sellers is bigger and a better shooter than Sim.
Im not sending him off. I am seeing that we are recruiting over him.
I think it would be a terrible idea to split the point btwn jackson and sim. Neither is a true pg.
We need a floor general who can run the show.
Sanon was ranked 23 in the RSCI and Wilcher was ranked 31 in the RSCI. Wilcher has an extra year of college and 2 years more with Pitino.
Its the shooting numbers and what he failed to do during that 25 minutes that worries me. Sellers shot this well as a soph before getting the bigger opportunity as a junior.
Last thing I'll say for now on this is that Sim plays with his head up and is always looking to make a play for someone else first if it's available, and he also moves the ball instead of hanging onto it to see if he can make a play for himself out of nothing. To me, those are the traits I want in my point guard.
He's also a good defender (would be better with a bit more weight and strength) and I see nothing wrong with his shot mechanics.
I can't dispute that the percentages were not awesome but I remain of the opinion that is more of a mental issue than a physical one and I think will likely be fixed with confidence and experience.

I think that CRP is not going to find someone like Mitchell that fits their need at 3/4 and they will be forced to play a three-guard line-up which will get Jackson, Sanon, Sellers and Sim the minimum amount of minutes to keep Sim happy. This might be good enough to be a top three team in the Big East but once you get into the dance, they will run into a team that is bigger and stronger in the sweet sixteen and maybe even in the round of 32 like this year.
Last season most people thought all year that the team was good even though they could not shoot but most also sensed that somewhere along the line that deficiency would kill their (and our) dreams.
I have a feeling and so do others that next year the lack of strength in the paint might be our undoing somewhere in the NCAA tournament. Does anyone think that a three-guard line-up with the proposed line-up could have beaten any of the top 10 schools from last season? I think they would have been outmatched in the paint. Of course, I am not saying that the team is not going to be a great team, but I would expect to have a similar outcome as this last season due to a team deficiency. Maybe I am looking too far ahead!
Why not continue!? I don't see those same traits you mentioned. His 2.1 assists (vs 2.2 TO's) per 40 minutes is less than RJ. And we all know how you feel about him having his head up and making a play for someone else
I think that is a very valid point. Almost every shot Wilcher took looked great to me and almost went in. At some point, you have to make them. I get that. My eyes tell me a Wilcher can shoot his ass off.
Let’s not forget that Sim hit 41.7% from three as a freshman in 9.1 mpg. Maybe his body wasn't ready to dog opponents 60-70 feet for 25+ minutes and to get screened by grown men over and over? If he played 14 mpg like Sellers did as a soph, the #s could have been identical.
I like the competition between those two. I think it will bring out the best in Sim. With an extra 8-10 lbs and a full offseason with Pitino, he could look like a completely different player.
My guess is that Sellers is the better FT/3 pt shooter and finisher and Sim is the better midrange shooter, ball-handler, and defender when the dust settles on the 25-26 season.
