It will be preseason number 1 team.
im down with this.... the fact that most of those "way too early..." lists have us top10 with just Bryce and Joson bodes well...
I don't think the AP will allow themselves to put us #1.... but if roster shapes up the way it seems... Top 4 is def in play... and then with the Vegas Tourney... we'll have the Opp to justify a #1 Ranking by winning that...
And know I'm not getting ahead of myself... this is it!
The thing about this is practices will be extremely competitive. I would not be surprised if players coming back made great strides. They also know the system and what Pitino wants. Glover and Wilcher will not lay down for these new players nor should they.

Would this be more beneficial than playing Michigan in an early regular season game at MSG similar to the New Mexico game last season?
More, no? I don’t believe it’s as simple as an either or tho. A home game requires a return game. Maybe that’s not in the works for either team.
I don't think voters will be doing us any favors after we were the only 1 or 2 seed to not make the sweet 16. #1 seems unlikely for that reason alone.
Hope not - that was Kansas this past year and look how they turned out. Also too much expectations. Anywhere else in top 5 would be great.
An exhibition game vs Mich is a better draw than last years game vs Seton Hall at MSG I believe. How SJU drew the crowd that day is still mind boggling to me. To draw that many fans for a lousy opponent who sold very few tickets at mostly MSG prices was outstanding.
Selling college basketball tickets in NYC is a chore. All of the other local college teams struggle to sell two thousand tickets to their games at probably a quarter of the price of a MSG ticket so if Pitino feels the SJU Mich exhibition will draw fans who is going to doubt him?

I think he knows the plan. 4th guard, 2nd wing.
I would imagine he sees himself ahead of Wilcher. We mostly don't, but his resume is superior. He may not even see that as a speed bump. He can also play the 2 and 3 and might be thinking he can backup the 1.
Think about a world where we could potentially have Sellers/Wilcher coming off the bench behind Lee/Jackson/Sanon. That's insane.
