25-26 Season

Yeah....Sim will be interesting
From Simeon’s POV, what are benefits of leaving for another program? Ultimately he needs to get stronger —physically, with the ball, and defensively . He still makes young player mistakes that he will need to grow out of. Having said that, how does leaving for another program help improve those areas? This isn’t a knock on Sim, but I think he holds the keys for taking the next step as a player. Transferring doesn’t automatically help that .

Benefits would be guaranteed starting job

I think Sim will make a big jump in his junior year. The Inconsistency will evaporate and his skills will show.

He's in the right place with the right coach to make serious improvements to his game. Playing time is one thing; coaching is something different.

I think of it like the driving range at the golf course: I can keep doing the same wrong things and I won't get any better. As we know, Pitino has a short fuse for doing the same wrong things.

I'm a Sim fan and hope he stays and gets better here.

I like Sim and hope he sticks here but him being a guaranteed started would limit us IMO. He could have a great JR year and prove to be one of better guys, but I think he’s got a lot left to prove there. What does he bring that makes him worthy of a guaranteed spot other than experience?

Absolutely. There can't be any "future of the program" treatment. We've upgraded our roster a lot from Mike's last year to Rick's first, and even moreso in Rick's first to second. But that third leap is not counting on a guy like Sim to play a big part, given how unproven and uneven he was this year.

I hope he buys in and sticks as well, I actually feel more bullish about his longterm outlook today than I did in November. But portal era should increase our expectations.

It will be up to Sim. This team will need to replace a lot and fill in holes. Building the right roster will mean that Sim has to be content as a 6th man getting 15ish minutes per game. Unless he can become the knock down shooter this team needs that will be his role. It will be up to him to decide if that makes him happy. Seems like Rick likes him and would welcome him back, but he is a free agent like everyone else.

There is absolutely no reason to think Sim won’t have the chance to compete for a starting role, no way he stays to play 15 minutes a game since he played close to 25 this year on the Big East champs. Agree there should be no guarantees but let’s not assume his role will be diminished. Get stronger and work on the three all offseason.

Surround him with mega talented portal guards and a forward, all of whom are team first guys, who can shoot and embrace defending. The vibe is they will do that. Sim better hit the weight room and work his tail off & improve his play in his third year. Nobody gets a free lunch if we want to truly compete at high level.
Thoughts on Bryce Hopkins?

Sim is the one guy that I am on the fence with. Opportunity cost is huge with a kid like this.

100% agree about Sim
You can see the talent and how much he's improved since his freshman year
But he is often physically outmatched which contributes to his penchant to foul
He also needs to improve on guarding people one on one on the perimeter
Opponents often blow right by him off the dribble
Hoping to see continued improvement as his role increases next season

I don’t remember where I saw it but Pitino mentioned zuby playing some 4 and stretching the floor by improving his jumpshot

Obv progression if he wants serious consideration at the next level but interesting to see him develop
