25-26 Season

I feel like an underrated challenge of this new NIL/Transfer portal mania environment is convincing high quality kids with upside to stick around and accept a bench role. So if kids like Vince, Wilcher, Prey and Glover can be convinced to stay even without a clear path to a starting role, that's huge in my opinion. That type of quality depth is huge.

And add Lefty to that mix. He can shoot, and has an excellent game awareness.

Ayo provided solid spot minutes the entire last third of the season, plus off the court leadership. Have to figure he is returning.
If Ayo wanted starter minutes he'd have to go to a mid major where NIL is non-existent. For Brady, he has expressed that he would go down a level if it means finding the right situation. Obviously money not the issue, unless he is playing the long game - go to a mid major for a year, kill it, then bounce up to a major program and featured role for 2 years.

It's so wild west right now, that it's impossible to speculate what will happen.

Ayo Marillac is a key returnee, having played 3 seasons under Coach Pitino. No one should underestimate his value to the team. He proved to be a valuable contributor when called upon.

We need Ayo back for lots of reasons. He’s going to be our second wing behind whoever we land in the portal.

Money talks etc.

MSG and Carnesecca Arena. Sanon comes from one of the best basketball conferences in the world, battle-tested enough to handle the bright lights that come with playing in the Mecca.

When I hear “UCONN” I think:
People also ask

What does the middle of nowhere mean?

: in a place that is far away from other people, houses, or cities. We got lost in the middle of nowhere.

Are we the SJU family/heritage fortunate or what?
Best to count our basketball blessings

Great time to be a great St J fan 😉

You can sometimes replace a guy’s offensive stats, but it is difficult to do so defensively. Kadary, Smith and Scott were incredibly impactful, generating deflections, steals, rebounds and stops. As we add some players w well deserved scoring accolades, staff will have their work cut out for them reasonably maintaining the integrity of a great defense while adding scoring fire power. This is tricky, but Pitino will get it done, but initially it may be a work in progress.

We need a wing who will defend like Scott to fill that role. Don’t think we will need to replace RJ scoring given we have Hop now and what I imagine will be an insane backcourt. But need to find that 1 wing to give what Scott did
