Without a doubt this is the most talented roster as a whole ever assembled at St. John's. There were teams with better individual players such as the Mullin, Berry, Jackson and Wennington teams but not the top to bottom talent we will have thanks to CRP and Mike Repole.

It was a different era that still had "walkons".
Only 3 of those players flourished in the NBA for an extended period.
Rutgers has 2 guys in the top 5 picks this year but had a losing record.
This team can actually go 10 deep. That team did not.
The draft of 40 years ago is not the draft of today.

Sac State is pouring money into their athletic department. They may have a JMU type meteoric rise. (They are also gunning to be the 8th team in the Pac-8/10/12). I always like these types of stories. I hope it works out for them and Sacramento State Gardner!

Just a follow- up on what's the latest gossip re Pac 12 and Mountain West.
Conferences are currently trying to arbitrate the exit fees for the five schools that left MW.
Both conferences want UNLV, but Rebels are getting some interest from Big 12, which is where they want to be.
Everything subject to conjecture at this point, but an eventual merger, of some sort, between the two conferences is possible.
