Absolutely. And Jackson will happily “give up” PG for his boy and they will play that up as such. Fland is the final piece and Pitino knows that I am sure.

I’m watching the Knicks and it’s clear that they need someone to spell Brunson at PG. I know, I know the Knicks don’t have a first round pick. But they could trade in.
However, the Nets have 4 first rounders. And they don’t have a PG. Unless the Nets get Dylan Harper with the second pick in the first round, I believe that I’m your Boogie Fland will be a Net.
I’m sure his agent is doing due diligence in finding out which NBA teams have real interest.
I’m drafting Boogie if I need a PG in late first round. I personally think his talent is over estimated by most of our fans. However he is perfect for the NBA with his skills and age and position. I think he goes in the late first round to a team other than the Nets if they get Harper.
His Agent is probably telling teams that if Boogie isn’t given a hard first round promise, he will go to a college team. And that would be Arkansas or a team with a huge budget and a need. That’s classic leverage.
Until the Mods move this thread to Recruits, I’ll remain quiet going forward about this topic. Go Knicks!!!

Using that argument, one can never go wrong because there are never guarantees. Then why bother bringing in Jackson, Hopkins, and everyone else? Why keep Zuby? SJU didn’t win a national championship with him last year. Geez.
Fland guarantees to elevate this team’s already impressive roster’s talent, to a level we have never seen or even dreamed of as fans.
Fland guarantees SJU is placed squarely as one of the top 2-3 teams favored to win it all.
Fland guarantees SJU will be a very hot entertainment destination next season and bring in a lot of publicity and money to the University.
Those are pretty worthwhile guarantees.

I am in wait and see mode, realizing Fland would help any team contending for a title. No sense getting all worked up over the outcome. We are positioned as well as you could be in event he opts to return to college. How that goes will thankfully be clear soon.
IDT we need him.
We can win a national title this year without him IMO, but getting him here only increases our chances. Let's wait and see.
Agree, not worth obsessing about as long as the draft is his main focus. If he does opt back into college, and it comes down to SJU and Florida, then I would think it makes more sense for him to come to SJU. Obviously, Florida is defending champs, but they already have a starting PG on their roster in Lee so that would be a detractor. That, plus the opportunity to compete for a national championship alongside Ian and in front of family and friends has to be appealing. All things the same (i.e. money), then I have a hard time believing SJU wouldn't have a really strong case to bring him onto the roster.
Alternatively, is the portal fully closed for Lee? If a guy is recruited over and hasn't enrolled in classes, then does that player have the opportunity to hop back into the portal (I thought I read that somewhere)? Could be if Boogie goes to FL, then we get our hands on Lee (who will likely lose serious playing time in that scenario). Although, I'm more than happy with Darling getting minutes at the point over Lee; especially since Lee already spurned us for another.

If we get Boogie, the focus on SJU will not be that we are championship contenders, unfortunately it’s going to be how much we paid him and if we win, we bought the championship.
That was the focus last year anyway.
If we got Boogie and won, we would sell out every garden game and create a buzz with young guys in the city that we haven't seen in four decades. It would be electric.

Bring on the criticism. Adapt, use your resources or return to mediocrity. UCLA in early years lived off the “generosity” of Sam Gilbert, but history treats them well.
