2025 Portal

FWI, St. John's is not even in the top 50 when it comes to "basketball revenue.
We are a one sport generating school and don't have revenue in the tens of millions to share with all our other sports like Louisville or Kentucky.
We are one Repole away from being Seton Hall.
Maybe revenue sharing and caps will help things but as long as you need billionaires on board to fund decent players, the designation of DIVISION ONE is a farce.
As for the "market", if your market is only 30 out 330 schools, then it is monopolistic and 90% of the kids entering the portal are deluding themselves because they are entering a Mercedes Benz market with a FIAT motor.
Yes or no. Is there a correletion to winning teams/tournament and enrollment/donations subsequently going higher ?
Who cares if we don't have the same revenue to share with other teams. This is a basketball forum
No-one here doesn't appreciate what a Repole can do, What does that point even have to do with anything from your original post
30 out of 330 is not monopolistic it's not that far off from how it was before when certain schools got away with paying kids under the table. If anything NIL has given the ability of some like us to become relevant a lot quicker again. And fairer than the original system
Kids make their own choices. Some actually move down for more playing time better system. ( Brady )

Do I like the 2025 portal ? I find it annoying but it's a lot better than tracking a hs player for 2 years

Regardless doesn't mean the players are not worth 1/10th of what they are getting paid like you claimed because when a team wins their revenue goes higher and schools have been making money off the kids forever

Curious is RJ currently involved with any schools, or is he exclusively focused on the pre draft workouts.

Auburn apparently working on a visit. I’m sure there will be many others. I’d bet he is playing in college next year. Can’t see how you turn down 3 million for 1 year when you are not a lottery pick. Good news is we may see the best college players stay in school longer but the bad news is it probably wont be at the same school.

I too believe he will play in college this season.
Guys like RJ, Kadary, Hopkins, Drew Timme, Hunter Dickinson etc were built for NIL. They get to bank some money and the fans get to see them play high level basketball for 4+ years. It’s one of the biggest win-win-wins for players, schools, and fans of the NIL era. I agree RJ will be playing in college next season. I hope he does well … somewhere far away from the Big East 😂.

Did Zags say something prematurely about the one player from this list who's not in the portal?

Edit: he already took it down, but he mentioned Pettiford in the portal.

Obviously, that would be the guy if it happened. He is not going to be a first round pick at this point (Fland neither). These guys need to come back to college to tighten up their games and get stronger. And both would be great options with both being from this area. We can dream.

Yup. Just don't let Zags be the reason for it. Do find it curious tho... lol
