2025 Portal

From what I was told the Hopkins-SJU chatter is all coming from one side...
It’s one thing to host a kid coming from overseas during the BE Tournament (with the logistic involved, you get the visit when you can), but it is another thing to host a visit for someone in the portal who is a three hour drive during a hopefully long NCAA run.

While I know Matt is doing his job which includes doing due diligence on potential players in the portal, I just don’t see how such a visit (or any other) while we are in the NCAA Tournament would happen. The coach will be focusing on job one, the tournament.

In addition, if we make the Round of 32, the team could be heading out west as early as Monday for their Thursday game. For those reasons along with the need to review his medical records (which could be done after a meeting) and working him out (if he is able), make me doubt this report of a meeting Monday is accurate.

Makes you think right...

That depends how you look at it. If the no contact thing is because he’s only interested in the Johnnies, the visit may just be a formality. It’s not like Rick is taking him to the Garden or a Manhattan restaurant, the kid may already be sold. Wouldn’t it be good to lock him in before other programs come around?

If you're really sold on Hopkins being a fit for us yes. I'm not.

Due to his injury history, I’m not sold on him. If anything last offseason should have taught us, Rick is patient.

Hopkins can’t enter the portal until Monday officially. An arranged visit before you even enter the portal and under the circumstances Inlaid out earlier, I just don’t see it.

As for getting in early with him, if he enters the portal as a “Do Not Contact”, there is no need to “get in early” with him if he contacts us. If he doesn’t understand our circumstances as far as our situation and the tournament and can’t wait, then I would have doubts on his willingness to be a team player and would feel it is not worth it.

All these opinions are verrrrry interrrrresting but I think this guy err what’s his name uh Pitino that’s right Pitino just might maybe oh I don’t know let’s just say has a clue about what he is doing. But hey maybe that’s just my opinion. 🤔🤪😊

Guy coming off 2 years of injury should come at very attractive $...otherwise hard pass.

Send him to Luis' dr for a physical evaluation before any signing
He could have played this year but his family had little issue with the coach

Probably good idea to just sit back and enjoy watching the GOAT put the roster together that he wants. Not going to be all 5 star guys but I will take a former 3 star like Aaron Scott anytime over most higher ranked kids.

Of all the things that have worried me about the direction of this program the last 3 decades this is the least.

Fortunately there are no more drama queens like Andre Curbelo or Rysheed Jordan walking through the door here anymore.

Every addition the last 2 years has come with tremendous quality traits. It is so apparent when you meet these guys at each school event. First class people. It should be known as the Ayo effect!

Hmm..missed that being discussed. I thought he really wasn't healed or teinjured after the few games he did play this year

I got a guy on this. He did get reinjured but probably could have played later in the season.

Heard Pitino met with Hopkins here in Providence and deal is done. Pitino told him he is not guaranteed to start, then gave him a wink. Speculation, so take it for what it’s worth.
Is this comment tongue in cheek or is this accurate?
