2025-26 Rankings

I do think sorting by average tells more, and SJU is three on that list. Uconn, which isn't turning over all its rotation players goes from 32 to 4.
It's nice, but it's the rankings when they lace them up that I care about. U Conn was a top 5 team "on paper" last year and that didn't work out so well for them. Kansas, pre-season #1, same thing. Sometimes the ingredients look good but the dish somehow doesn't work.

One writer has put us back in the top 5 of their preseason rankings (Gary Parrish):

#3 UConn
#4 St. John's (moved up 7 spots)

No other BE teams in his top 26, but imagine having St. John's and UConn as 1 seeds on Selection Sunday.
Creighton will easily be a top 25 team. But the rest of the big east.......yikes.

Good thing we are scheduling big boy OOC games.

Definitely agree about Creighton. I do think based on preseason expectations at least the Big East should be pretty solid.

Let's say St. John's and UConn are #4 and #7 preseason. That'd be equivalent to a 1 seed and 2 seed, which would be HUGE for March. We badly needed another high seed this year.

Then let's say Creighton is #18 preseason, that'd be a 5 seed.

After that I think we'll have 2-3 teams in that #26-45 range (Dancing), which would put us at 5-6 Dance teams with two of them being top seeds. The games need to be played of course, the above scenarios won't go exactly as expected, but just purely based on preseason expectations I think the conference will be in a good spot.

nothing more meaningless than mid-portal rankings, but #3 here.

Good stuff. Also got:
#3 St. John's
#7 UConn
#23 Creighton
#33 Georgetown
#35 Marquette

Basically what I mentioned above with a 1 and 2 seed along with 5 teams overall solidly in there. Maybe a 6th if he'd list them around #46-48 after his top 45 cutoff.

Big thing to watch for is if Villanova can make a move. With the HUGE (and controversial) splash they made by hiring Willard I'd be surprised if they don't become a top 50 preseason team by next month.

It is clear that UConn, SJU & Creighton will very good this coming year. It is essential for the BE that Marquette maintain reasonable success and Nova evidence potential this year. Nothing worse than a very top heavy BE from fan, ranking and quality of play perspective. As an aside, I feel DePaul under Holtmann will be much improved over next two years and Rick Jr. will get Xavier on track in similar time frame.

If Kim English wasn't their coach, I'd say Providence can surprise people. I just fundamentally don't trust him at this point.

think Prov will be fiesty this year... theyll have guys that can score... and expect a big leap from Oswin... great job hanging onto him...

Kid will be highly sought after this upcoming off-season

McDermott could take McAndrew 7 of our posters and finish better than #23.

Okay. So we are just a top ten team now. Got it.

Has that really sunk in with most of you? Really? I’m actually having trouble processing the fire hose of good news on this forum.

Like top ten solid. Top ten. Thanks to those putting in the work and $ to make this happen

This is a great reminder of where we were not so long ago…
