2025-2026 Season

LMF confidence rankings on whether players will perform up to expectations:

Zuby: 10
Mitchell: 9
Hopkins: 7
Sanon: 7
Ayo: 7
Sellers: 6
Jackson: 5
Prey: 4
Darling: 4
Lefteris: 3
Odih: 3
Everyone else: NR
to be clear... you are 7/10 on the Confidence Meter- that Bryce will perform at his expectations....?

Meaning- with Prey... you are only a 4/10 confident that he will perform well as a... capable backup...?

I am totally confident that Zuby will do what everyone expects him to do.

I am very confident that Mitchell will outperform the expectations of most people, especially the not-insignificant percentage of this board that did not view him as a potentially huge get.

I am fairly confident that Hopkins and Sanon will meet the expectations of most, but I can't rule out that one or both of them may have some issues. I threw Ayo in there because other than Marillac I don't think anyone expects him to get more than 2 MPG and be productive in those minutes, and I am pretty confident that will be the case.

As Paultz astutely noted, I think Sellers may wind up playing out of position and I don't know how that will go.

Jackson to me is a coin flip. I am far less convinced that he is all that than most people here. In fact I think he will be coming off the bench most of the season. But he could also be all Big East. It's a box of chocolates to me at this point.

Prey and Darling are both being projected to be productive at this level in a way neither has shown yet. Can't be confident about how that goes.

Liotopoulos gets a 3 because I think he will struggle to get on the floor again this year versus most expecting that he will be something of a contributor. Odih gets the same score because although I am optimstic about him, he's still a freshman.

now let’s here the expectations

Edit: saw your later post.

I think sellers is a sure fire solid contributor. Not sure what the rest is expecting from him but if he’s a disappointment I’d be surprised.

Curious if you could list what the expectations are for each guy and then can get a better idea of your rank to reach those expectations. Can’t agree or disagree with how you have it without knowing the expectations.

The polls we’ve been voting on are all over the place. Some think high and some think low on the same guy from what I’ve seen in those polls.

The whole thing is purely subjective. It's just my sense of what the general expectations are of most posters (excluding the absolute margins) versus how confident I am in whether those expectations will bear out. Not to be taken too seriously, just an offhand observation sparked by the Jackson discussion.

Got ya.

Re: Jackson;

His one and done expectation at UNC was imo over the top. He did show a lot at Cardinal Hayes & elsewhere in high school to deserve attention and had good stats last year, although inconsistent w some highs and lows in season.

That said Ian was jerked around a bit apparently by Hubert, who obviously is not in Pitino’s class. I expect Ian to progress well here under Rick, but he will have a challenge learning to play lead guard w some exposure at the point and playing up to RP’s standards defensively.

Imo, I don’t expect Ian to be a super star out of the gate, but hope down the stretch in BE play he impresses. So I am in the “cautiously optimistic” camp on his impact this year. Here’s hoping I’m off on this.

Cant say which player but was speaking to one Sunday who was on last years team. Asked him what is the biggest adjustment if any for all these big name guys coming this year. Serious look he said they had no clue what a Rick Pitino practice was meaning at their previous schools it doesn't even remotely translate and that's a good thing. But he said they have all bought in but it's so much learning on a different level especially on defense

I can see Ian evolving into the Kadary Richmond role as year goes on. The guy when you need someone to go one on one to get a bucket

Really wouldn't shock me if he's here for two years. Draft class is supposedly strong, and learning curve here will be a lot. Its why I floated the idea of Boogie so much. Just saying he was a pg and we have Rick never really made sense with actually watching him play. But he's immensely talented, and give him one year under Rick, he can be outstanding in year two.

With this team, I think we can have multiple guys who can do that so no one will have that role. A great, unique upside of this team.
