2025-2026 Season

A lot of self-awareness, and it fits with what I saw. "More rebounding, more guarding the ball" are two things he was not asked to do at UNC.
Like it or not, Ian has to step up and handle the ball more. He can clearly defend our opponents’ PG. Sellers and Sanon need to spot up for their shots and play off the ball.
There is no sure thing alternative on the roster. Lefty and Darling will get PG minutes, but our season hangs on Ian handling and distributing the ball.
I’m waiting for Ian to have a big game so that CRP can quietly anoint him, just as it organically happened with Kadary. No fanfare, just a process. We need to support Ian more. I think he needs to feel the love from us fans. He’s only 19-20. He can do it and he needs to get his confidence back.
If this happens we will explode as a team. If not, we will have some bitter disappointments. Ian holds the keys to the success of our team.
I’m team Ian. He can do this. He was born to lead us.

He is not a PG, hopefully he does some impressive things off the ball sooner than later. Pulling for him, but need to see some progress especially v the better teams in OOC schedule play.

Kadary was a proven veteran, Ian had an up and down year at UNC.

We have no other options. Ian has to step up. I believe in him.
In the modified words of Bill Parcells: CRP can’t shop in the PG aisle of the supermarket.

Waiting for my flight, so I thought I’d share some of the feedback I’ve gotten about this team over the past few weeks, mostly from assistant coaches within the BE. Obviously, from media day—where they were picked and with the number of players recognized—this team is highly respected across the board for their coaching and talent. Almost all the feedback was positive. As in, 99% thought this was a Final Four team. That being said, I’ve decided to share a few of the concerns that were voiced to me. These are NOT my thoughts at all nor my opinions., nor do I agree with them..later this weekend ill post the positive feedback...which WAY WAY WAY outnumber the below...dont kill the messanger

Jackson – “This could go badly. We have a pool on what will happen first—will he kill Rick, or will Rick kill him? This is a totally new structure for him. That step-back three he loves will find him right next to Mass on the bench. He’s a great kid, a bit sensitive, so there I’d have some worry—will he get down on himself during a tough stretch?”

Darling – “We’re going to go right at him. Every. Single. Time. He’s small, and when he tries to get into the lane, he’s going to find no space. Not sure this will work.”

Zuby – “Kid is the best offensive rebounder I’ve seen in 20 years. BUT if they plan on playing through him in the post, that’s a win. We won’t need to double him, and that keeps him off the weak-side glass.”

Sanon – “He’s the best player on that team, and he knows it. Will he be okay deferring? It’s well known he came to get NBA-ready... when he’s averaging 10 points because of the depth, will he get frustrated?”

Pray – “Keep hearing about improved offensive skills... not concerned. He has poor hands and is very robotic.”

Sellers – “Stop with the turnover numbers. Who cares? He was a spot-up shooter—why would he have inflated TO numbers?”

Rick - " Hes the best. Not currently, but ever. But their were some issues behind the sceens last year...not the ones on TV or RJ v ARK...they got worked out....will they happen again and will they be so lucky?"
I had nothing to do with those quotes, even though it sounds like they all came from me.

I mean, if they were mine then the first quote would have been:

Mitchell: What coach in the country would not love to have this guy on his team? Versatile weapon, team player - will wreck your best game plan with his athleticism and effort.
