2015-2016 Season Ticket Prices

Season ticket prices have increased pretty significantly this season. To a level that is, quite frankly, absurd. I know they made a big splash and are trying to ride the Mullin wave but $370 dollars for the cheapest plan is kind of crazy. My tickets increased from $350 per ticket to $415 per ticket. That's nearly a 20% increase. And $120 for students is too much as well. I will pony up the extra dough, but raising ticket prices like that prior to actually doing anything on the court is a dangerous game.

I expected this to happen, but not this year. If this is the case during a rebuilding year, I can only imagine what the price increases will be when we are again a national power.

I might just upgrade my tickets this year. The thought of spending $415 to sweat buckets for half the season in the upper tank of Carnesecca Arena is pretty infuriating.

Someone has to pay for the new "total body cavity" metal detector recently installed at CA & the five additional retired cops to man it.

The "VIP" ticket prices are absolutely absurd. They've always required a donation before you even bought the actual game day tickets, but now they're just completely outrageous. We don't think we are going to get them this year, will take our chances with stub hub or friends who can't make games. Really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way here, I'm not sure whose call it was, but I hope they know what they're doing

Looks like they give both recent graduates and military a $35 discount on season tickets, which begs the questions, what's worse 4 years in Afghanistan, or 4 years on campus?

they also have a package called the middle east plan for arab community and they market it as "it's so hot up top at carnesseca it will feel like home"

How were you notified, by regular mail or e-mail? I have not seen anything yet n this. Also, when is the money due?

I don't believe season ticket holders have been contacted yet.

I received an e-mail. I guess it is because I set up an account. The message notes renewal forms will be mailed in early July.

Yep. Same here.

Should check my email. I do have an account, but I don't check that email frequently.

Why does it always seem like St. John's cannot "get it right" with respect to marketing or ticket packages, or something?

1. This year should have been marginal increases on prices and re-ignite interest with a moderately priced package with the goal being to try to fill the stands all the time (which alone would make the school more money).

2. Once everyone loves the new product and some big 16 signees join, you raise the prices for 2016-17 now that everyone is "hooked" again (and more likely for significant success than this upcoming year).

3. It boggles my mind that they make students pay for tickets. Just add an "athletics fee" somewhere in the tuition of the students who live on campus. say an extra 20 bucks for the YEAR. 5000 students x $20 = $100,000. Then do a lottery or lineup by game or whatever for distribution of tickets. At current numbers, St. John's would need 833 students to purchase student ticket packages to make $100,000 from the students. I have a feeling this would make more money immediately, and would also result in more students attending as it would be advertised as a "free" game etc.

I agree that SJU cannot get it right year after year in their ticket office. There doesn't seem to be any creative thinking in trying to fill the seats at CA or improving the basketball atmosphere. Raise the prices, print the brochures and mail them out. Job done.

The athletic department won an award recently for their promotion/contest of the women's basketball team, too. They have to be a little more creative in how they sell the tickets, but I think it all comes down to winning.

You are 100% right on this, maybe they should hire someone from Duke to run the AD. I have always done the storm saver corner package (section 110) and while most of my group will still re-up for next season, I had a few guys lined up to join our group. But with the ticket increase I doubt they will buy tickets now. Yes these tickets were (still are IMO) a good deal, but its simple supply and demand. Tickets are a perishable item if your demand is significant lower than your supply (19K seats at MSG i believe we averaged 8 or 9K) you can't raise prices. You have to find where in the price curve makes you the most $$. I have a hard time believing that raising prices 15-18% to the existing 3K season ticket holders will accomplish that.

They need to offer broken apart packages too. Along with a full season package offer a CA package and MSG package. You just have to market it to the right crowd.
$150 - To 10 CA games, for people will small kids or on a budget this is a very cost effective way to see games. Its much cheaper than going to see the Mets, Yanks, Knicks or even Islanders. And free parking!
$250 - 8 or 9 MSG games. For a young person living in the city that is less than the cost of 2 Ranger or Knicks games. They should be selling these like crazy.

That promotion was a little bit excessive if you ask me. They pretty much singled out students for not going to games and missing their chance at winning something. The fact they won an award for that is a little backwards to me.

Agreed. I'm not sure how it ended or if anybody even won it, but it could've been a nice payout to some lucky student.

I'm still waiting for them to use my idea of a nude women's volleyball calendar. No doubt that would be a huge hit
