I was hoping for 5-1 would be happy with 4-2 ok with 3-3 and would have ben irate with worse.

We have to win out by Duke.

Ponds is fine. Team should gel by now so root like hell now because this is where it counts. Every person here who has a friend who likes hoops should make sure they come to Gtwon game. Sunday 12pm what else can you ask for after beating Butler

And we will beat butler

Butler oddly enough doesn’t match up great with us. I think we should win.

The frustrating part is that this team would have beaten DePaul 99 out of 100 times with Ponds at home and we did actually beat Seton Hall. So we should be 17-1, 5-1.

Anything less than 3-3 would have been panic time. Now they need to start getting wins. 6 games in and the opportunities to sweep teams is becoming less and less likely. Butler and Gtown HAVE to be sweeps now.

I've always felt this team would beat Duke. It just seems in its DNA to win a February game of that magnitude.

I am not really following the logic. Why not sweeps against Creighton, Providence etc. Need to find the signature road win(s). Obviously the low hanging choice would be @ Quette.

The Duke game is nothing more than a hyped mid-Feb exhibition that can only provide upside for us.

Imho, Georgetown, Butler, Xavier, Creighton & Providence are all reasonably possible sweeps for us. If we get 3 of them and split with other 6 teams, we'd be 12-6; get 2 sweeps and split with other teams we're 11-7. In either case we'd be in top 4 of BE regular season and in excellent shape for a bid. Need to avoid being swept by anyone.
Duke is a also a possible W given that Jones is very unlikely to play.

We'll only beat Duke if Marcellus guards Zion because Zion has a dorky voice and Marcellus is a football player.
RJ Barrett is overrated as a 6'7 guard. We should put Camus on him. Besides, he's from Canada and we all know anyone from Canada can't play basketball because it is a Lacrosse country. Besides, after the DePaul game I always felt we would beat Duke and Marquette on the road once Trimble got more comfortable with the center position.

Injuries are part of the game - we don't get credit for games we "should" have won without Ponds. We beat Georgetown by the skin of our teeth when they were missing McClung - so that should count as a loss, right?

We need four sweeps for a good seed. Winning at Creighton in their wild 17,000 seat arena is very hard. Marquette too. Gtown is a home game. It's by far our best chance chance at this point with the road win in hand. Butler just isn't very good. Providence is another option. Wins away from home are very tough in this conference.

The Duke game is huge for us. We need a signature win if the hope is better than a 7-9 seed.
I think we sweep providence
I hope so, Mike, but they are always underrated and Cooley is a very good coach
Besides, my former neighbor is a Friar so there's always a wager on these games
He always brags about having been Jimmy Walker's roommate at Providence
We need to shut him up once and for all!!
GO ST JOHN'S!!!

I haven't seen Providence but they are a bad matchup for us on paper. They are always loaded with rugged 6'6-6'10 guys. Posters on here are acting like a marginal Big East player like Femi Olujobi is a beast...wait until they see some of the guys on Providence.

And as is our luck, AJ Reeves will be active for them in the next ten days or so and ready to play against us.

Fact is, no player we’ve seen has abused us the way Femi did. You don’t have to go down swinging with that one. He killed us and it hurt.

I took the same meds the guy that posted this took:

"Earlington is a legit high major D1 Defensive End! That means he can take on 330 lb linemen..
Zion is a beast physically but listen to him talk! He is a dork. He sounds like he collects comic books.
"

We should sweep Georgetown, Butler and Xavier. Butler and Xavier just aren't that good this season and we already beat GT at their place. As long as Ponds is healthy it's absolutely possible. If Williams and Keita continue to improve it makes it an even higher possiblilty

I didn't watch the game after Ponds was ruled out. I knew the outcome. IMO, we would have beat them by around 20 with Ponds, and the two guys that had to pick up the slack from Ponds were he two guys that could have helped neutralize Femi had they been able to concentrate on that aspect.

Ponds affects everything from thee point shooting % to how we defend. There hasn't been a more important player to a team than I've witnessed in my lifetime of watching college basketball.

lol really? Your prediction that he is more SF couldnt have been more off. HIs base made our guys look like middle schoolers.

Seriously?

Our prospects for beating Dook would really go way up if Zion W takes Scottie Pippens advice and shuts it down at Duke and begins to prepare for the NBA draft.
