It's not really a theory, as much as a fact, that he was available to play in February but chose not to (which I don't blame him for, for a multitude of reasons!)
Exactly. This a very good news.
I don't blame him out bit for sitting out after barely missing the redshirt cutoff the year before and being stuck on a losing team. Plus, the extra NIL money he had coming to him. That is a complete no-brainer.

If he had played a few games late in season would he have lost a year of eligobility?
 
Alex Evans episode on Big East Rewind was a good one for Johnnies fans. Sonny Spera and Chuck Everson always very respectful towards St. John's and over the top about it for LooieC.

They actually said in the mid-Eighties, the guys from Syracuse, Nova and St. John's all liked each other.

Left out was the same comment about Georgetown interestingly enough.

120 players , and 40 teams last year . Going to be more teams this year

Team of 3 are made randomly . 1st,2nd,3rd place trophies plus the Mark Jackson MVP trophy.

3 point shootout with cash Prizes

On site raffel with autograph merchandise from sports team all over the tri state area .

Don’t play ? There will be players from the mens basketball team in attendance for autographs and pictures . Free food . Plenty of families were in attendance last year . Confirmations of the names will come shortly.

If you have kids , or grandkids , or neighbors , or anyone you know that would play let me know .

St. John’s Unveils Johnnies Nation Podcast; The Official Podcast of the Red Storm Men’s Basketball Program

Episode one is now available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and iHeart Radio





QUEENS, N.Y. (Aug. 19, 2025) –
The St. John’s Athletic Department unveiled the brand-new Johnnies Nation Podcast, which will give fans an inside look to the St. John’s men’s basketball program.



The Johnnies Nation Podcast will be the official pulse of St. John’s Basketball throughout the 2025-26 season, featuring courtside stories and exclusive insight straight from the players themselves. The inaugural episode, which is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery, is now available on the St. John’s Red Storm YouTube Channel, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and iHeart Radio. Highlights from each episode will be shared on the team’s official Instagram, X formerly known as Twitter, and TikTok accounts.



Episode one highlights the Johnnies’ four returnees, Zuby Ejiofor, Sadiku Ibine Ayo, Ruben Prey and Lefteris Liotopoulos. The Johnnies share first-hand stories from last year’s run to a BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships while also recapping summer workouts and the season ahead.



Led by 2024-25 National Coach of the Year Rick Pitino, the St. John’s men’s basketball team tied a program record with 31 wins and earned a No. 2 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm welcomes in the top-rated transfer class in the country and returns a core of veterans including Ejiofor, a 2024-25 All-BIG EAST First Team selection.
