Available Lead Guards

Not trying to hype up all these guys. Genuinely very hard to gauge and would rely on other people. Also find it hard to believe their Plan A would be to have a Euro be the main orchestrator of this team. But clearly plenty of non-portal talent out there.

I ‘think’ it has to do with foreign players being unable to get NIL but they can be ‘loaned’ to colleges and maybe still get their Euro salary?
Somehow, they are getting paid nicely. The best young players not just coming for education & coaching

I’m sure CRP has it figured out and mastered already. Perhaps that’s why there has been recent radio silence on incoming players. However, the team must know. That’s why we have the recent portalers? Just a thought/guess.

Yes hence why they must believe names are coming to the portal over the next remaining days because the inaction on the PG front (besides Lewis) has been deafening. They need at minimum 5 more players on this roster so we know more players are coming.
Why do you attribute the lack of success to inaction?

You are correct. It's because they are here on a student visa. I think it's F-1. But like anything, there are workarounds. Generally though you're not allowed to earn money by working when you are here on a student visa.

Not an NIL rule per se, just immigration law.

Only European players like Lefteris may come for development and coaching. The current system doesn't give the Pitino's of college basketball enough time for development because American kids don't give a crap about development but more about minutes to boost their stats....to boost their NIL value. Thus, you have players like Storr going on to their 5th school without tangible improvement to their potential.

A basketball analyst recently said:
"Development is less of a concern in college basketball than ever before. Through the transfer portal, abundant talent exists every offseason to plug and play into a lineup; spending funds in the form of scholarships or NIL revenue sharing on developing athletes for speculative future returns is unlikely to yield a positive return on investment."

My guess is if the staff could go back in time 3 weeks then Silas would be a Johnny right now
He visited and they worked him out but isn’t he more of a combo guard than true PG, hence why UConn picked up Smith? But yes, we could have done the same, get him and a true PG behind him like UConn did. I like Silas and he was a highly rated player in the portal. Seems like opportunity missed.
