New York Mets 2025 Season

Jeez, talk about stupid comments. He was roughed up in the playoffs. He had a nice regular season for us. The Mets just wanted higher ceiling guys. It’s not personal at all.

I found it very surprising no team offered him a major league job until the Cardinals did in the beginning of spring training though. The Mets are one thing, but there's probably 20 clubs that could use him.

Depends on the money, right. He is nothing special. That is why he was available in the first place to us. He’s a serviceable bullpen piece. That’s it. Teams don’t want to pay big money year to year on the bullpen because of the up and down nature of results.

Maybe he thinks he’s a front line guy and wanted to be paid like one. Didn’t happen. Not personal. A small sample this year he pitched well for the Cards. I still fear his hanging sliders. During the season he got away with it. Not so much in the playoffs.

It does depend on the money, but he didn't even got a roster invite until the Cardinals! Him being serviceable is exactly right. That should be enough for a majority of pens. I just think MLB owners are extremely cheap.

For us, it didn't make much sense. We need more guys with minor league options. Its a great problem, but what are we going to do when Nunez is ready to come back up?

When Nunez is ready I assume one of two things will happen. Either someone who just pitched comes up with the phantom 10 Day IL stint injury or someone gets DFA’d….paging Danny Young. His only positive aka reason for keeping him here is that his pitching arm happens to be the one on the left. He’s terrible so I hope his time has expired.

I’m at the point where you offer Alonso the original offer from last season, the 1st offer, and get this done sooner than later. I’d say 6 years, $180. That would make everyone happy, no?

I think it was the rare miscalculation by Stearns. Power is the last thing to go and Alonso was a college player (way less wear and tear) to boot.

We’d be 2 years into the 7/158 offer, so how about 5/110 to make that offer whole? Seems like a win for both sides.

I think at the moment 5/110 might be too low but a happy medium between the numbers I mentioned and the ones you mentioned is possible. Don’t let this get to offseason.

Acuna is so fun to watch. Really growing on me.
Speed kills and he has it. Interesting that Baty is also having a bit of a resurgence. Long way to go but he has looked far more comfortable at the plate. If Acuna or Baty stays they need to play as much as possible. No point to have him rotting on the bench.

Acuna may be the rare young player who should jsut stay in the majors. Lindor saying he was "bored" in Spring Training, and that same talk in AAA last year, maybe he's just better under the bright lights. He can be extremely valuable as a backup CF, 2B, SS and 3B + baserunner in late innings.

Baty in a tough spot. Maybe that's why McNeil is getting CF reps

I think he can hit .240 and still be really effective if he’s drawing walks.

BTW, Sproat pitched 6 shutout to lower his ERA down to around 2.72 (going from memory). Might be a summer call up if it continues.

And then you have McLean in Binghamton who is going to force a promotion to Syracuse. He may be the best of the younger arms coming up.

I turned on the Knicks playoff game and lo and behold it’s Steve Cohen and he’s sitting courtside at MSG. Not a great look. Normally I would say hey he can do whatever he wants. However, he gave a little talking to Mets fans and last years attendance which was discussed ad infinidum on radio. Today his ballpark was sold out and early attendance has been very good considering the weather excluding today and he is sitting over at MSG!?

I don’t know, this doesn’t bother me personally.

Cohen being the owner and being critical of attendance to me doesn’t mean he needs to personally go to 81 home games. If he misses a game cause he wants to experience the playoff msg atmosphere, can’t say I really blame the guy. If I had essentially unlimited money I’d make sure to be in the building for Knicks playoff games as well

I don’t disagree with you.

However, all he needs to do is put a winning team on the field and people will support the team. Words don’t put people in the seats, WINS do. The “presale” of tickets will give the Mets a big boost. They have buzz. Last year the big signing was middle of the rotation starters.

All being said I love the guy because he clearly wants to win. Just thought it was an odd look given the commments.
