Transfer Portal

This is definitely off topic and I’m sorry to mods in advance. But I went back to find that post that one dude did about you, the one where he called you elitist.

And I was sad to find that it’s deleted.

I was gonna keep it tucked away so I could copy and paste it as a joke in case we are ever disagreeing about something in the future.

Would’ve been hilarious but alas
I got it if you ever want it. lol

To answer anyone left with any doubts - see the quote below

"One NBA scout told Sports Illustrated that Clayton could be in the second-round mix should he declare for the NBA draft this cycle and would be an impact addition for virtually any college program, while Jenkins averaged 15 points and nearly five assists per game. Pitino said in October that his Iona backcourt “definitely could have been his backcourt at Louisville.”

Points guards are essentially the 'Quarterbacks' of basketball teams.

In Posh's 3 years as a starter - All he's managed to do is beat up on non-conference creampuffs that we schedule every year.

He's got a losing overall record against Big East competition and that's called 'Losing Culture'.

Pitino said his #1 priority is to 'Change The Culture'. It all starts with the 'Quarterback' of the team.

As far as I'm concerned, the only way Posh can stay on this team is as a bench player as the 3rd or 4th guard.

However:
#1) You can't even play him in close games down the stretch because he's unreliable at the line and will miss Free Throws in the clutch
#2) He probably won't accept the role as the 3rd or 4th guard & the last thing you want is a disgruntled player on your team and in your locker room when your immediate priority is trying to develop team chemistry and change the culture.

Way too risky as far as I'm concerned.

Therefore Posh has got to go.

However I wish him well wherever he goes because of all the effort put in and how hard he's played.

i just think he's WAY overrated by many of the fans that post on this board

1) Walter Clayton's our starting point guard next year. 100%
2) Joel's our captain.
3) I think Rick should keep Wusu. He's improved every year, he has the type of motor that Pitino is looking for & he's also very versatile with his quickness and big-body.
4) Gardner & Storr are keepers
5) It seemed like Pitino said he would keep Drissa Traore (I don't care whether he goes or stays)
6) David Jones to me is the big X-Factor Right now when it comes to next year's roster.
Not many dudes in college basketball have his offensive skill set. He's got so much talent.
Can Pitino teach him to take better shots and become much more efficient...so he doesn't play so selfish and hurt the team???

To everyone else on the roster...

Goodbye. Adios. See ya. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's time for us to start winning a minimum of AT LEAST 26 games per year !!!!!

LFG

Apologies 85. I don't have a problem with any posters and was simply addressing the portal issue because my comments were derided when I supported a turnover in players in order to upgrade the talent level.
All good.

I’m a big Posh fan but agree Clayton Jr is most likely the starting pg here next year. Even if given the opportunity to play I don’t think Posh will hang around his senior year just to compete with the new coach’s favorite guy from his last job. Maybe I’m wrong.

My only hope is he doesn’t go to Seton Hall or somewhere else in conference and torture us a couple times next season.

Hate this post. These kids put on the red and white. They’re Johnnies not trash to be thrown away.
Agree 100%. Some posters are "Fake As Fuck". It is as if you don't realize that we are talking about the lives of young men. As Boo said, definitely not trash to be thrown away. Yes the team did not reach the heights that we all wanted, and I too, am disappointed. However, the ridicule and venom being directed towards these young men is unwarranted. Posh, for instance, has busted his ass for St Johns for three years and y'all are ready to kick him to the curb, GTFOH.

Wonder how many of y'all would still be in relationships if your wives or girlfriends cut you loose after a poor sexual performance. Maybe I'm wrong, and all y'all are "60 Minute Men"'

I am a huge Pitino fan. Had bomb squad poster on wall as a kid. Still can’t believe he is coaching here. He is on my MT Rushmore of College coaches I have seen in my lifetime: Pitino, Coach K, Wright, Dean Smith.
With that being said I am still curious to see if he can recruit HERE. Because not sure anyone can. But besides that though admittedly not a HS recruiting expert, I don’t remember Pitino getting the top kids anyway. At least not at Providence and Louisville. Possibly did at Kentucky. Thought that was one of the things that separated him was he wasn’t consistently getting the upper echelon kids and was still super successful?

My point with all that is I am a little dubious that he will be able to “throw away” talent and be able to replace in his first year. This is specific to Posh and Jones.

I've been having the same thoughts after seeing all the chatter about us with Ian Jackson and Boogie Fland.

Pitino's a legend, but I also don't know if that is going to immediately translate to us getting top 20 guys consistently. It feels like everyone is excited and has convinced themselves the team will be loaded with 5 star transfers immediately, and the team will be too good for Posh or a David Jones.

I am not so sure about that. But gotta let it play out of course.

Also when it comes to guys like Posh, Wusu, and Jones. These are guys who have played in the Big East for several years now and I feel like that matters. I keep thinking back to Lavin's first team and the experience factor there

What he will do is recruit players that fit his system, something we haven’t had since well never. Louie played his style no matter who he had.
But I agree some on here are getting a little carried away.
Understandable though.
