Iowa St., Mon., Nov. 24, 4:30p, TruTV / 1050 AM

Well honestly, 0-2 vs the P5 would suck.
Plus we'd be 4-6 vs. the P5 since Rick has been here.
Reality is if you want to be big time then you gotta do big time things.
It's that simple
At what point Iowa State do you turn the game off in disgust and we go on a 40-5 run ? I just want to know if I get to the bar at 4:30 or 4:45 ? :)

Seems so long ago but Tamin Lipsey played 24 mins in the game the last time we played them. We were 8-0 and feeling good going in to that game and they started the game on a 17-2 run and showed us what an actual good team looked like. Posh and Curbelo combined for 12 turnovers

Right. Like win league and conference titles. Set conference and program records for wins. Get national attention. Great seeding in the dance. Sell out MSG. Be someone people talk about coast to coast media-wise and
on influential podcasts. We definitely need to start checking off those big time things.

Just looking around and found the ESPN matchup predictor that basically is favoring Iowa State to win 62%.

No idea what that is based on.

Must be that big win over Mississippi State.😏
Have seen numerous games including football where one team is favored point spread wise but the other team is favored in the percentage chance to win the game. That’s ESPN for you.

Exactly, Pitino did it everywhere, there's no reason why he can't get SJU to be huge.

It starts next week. Let's get it done.

Regarding the IOWA STATE game, cough cough, I am very interested in seeing if we can support our guards with decent rim protection. For me the biggest takeaway from bucknell was our shot blocking and rim intimidation. I see a possible path to better defense by having Zuby/Mitchell/Prey aggressively protecting the rim when our guards are beat. Now ideally our guards will improve defensively but it will make their jobs much easier if opponents are afraid to drive all the way to the rim.

That’s my side interest watching this next game. First interest of course is just winning.

This is the problem with turning over the roster every year. You play big games early against teams who return 4 or 5 guys who played a lot minutes for them last year and it becomes an issue. Just like it did against Alabama. We have to start retaining at least 4 or 5 quality minute players from year to year. Zuby is our only returning guy who played an abundance of minutes last year. Let’s hope we’ve meshed enough to win a close one against Iowa St.
It will be same problem next year. Zuby, Bryce, Dillon, Oziyah, are senior and Ian will possibly go to Pro. Coach Pitino still has to rely on transfer players next year again. St. John's will have totally NEW team next year.

Need to bring in at least 2 big man studs (unless Tamba gets an extra year 🤪).

I was being sarcastic, lol. He’s already done everything I noted, in two years. We all want to win big OOC games and I love the schedule this year. But let’s not also gloss over what he’s already done in elevating the program. It’s a different universe around here.

Are you sure? How would he have another year? He has no COVID year and started over 30+ games every year of his career. He spoke with a finality tone at The Storm pod preseason.

Upon looking this up, he's already came off the bench more this year than any time before in his college career. His freshman year, Texas was 29-9 and made the Elite 8/finished #5 in the AP, second year made the tourney as well.

Either way, this makes me think of last year with Scott. The team intended on getting Omier or Mitchell, and wanted Scott off the bench. Scott was good as a starter, but he would've been all-world off the bench. Think that applies to Mitchell as well.
I thought you were talking about Ayo🤣 yeah, Mitchell is done unless another Hail Mary at the 5 in 5 goes through.
